Folding Bikes - Mini Folder Meet-Up in SF Bay Area - Jan. 9th

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The incomparable LexM is embarking on his own Excellent Adventure to the SF Bay Area next week. Details shall not be revealed here, but carefully unveiled to all in due course.
To celebrate the occasion, we are inviting all Bike Forum folder lovers to join us in Half Moon Bay, California, for a 25 mile gentle ride along the Pacific Ocean. Lunch at a local sea-food joint will be included.
If you're interested, please meet at the HMB Fire Station, at Main St. and Higgins Canyon Rd at 10:30 am on Sunday, Jan. 9th. Map of meeting location here:

Distance is not an excuse for not showing, since LexM is travelling from Chicago to be there :)

Sounds good to me :thumb: ... what's the parking situation by the Fire Station like?
Sounds great!
BTW, what are the bike parking situation at that sea food joint? (I prefer not to leave the bike unattended).

Oodles of street parking at the Fire Station.
And we'll pick a table on the terrace at Barbara's Fish Trap so we can keep our eyes on the bikes. There will be some expensive bikes on this ride. I'll bring a cable lock also.

Google says that there is a permanent police presence near BFT so we should be fine

Oh, we're not making fuss about you necessarily. It's your folding bike we're interested in .... :)

Silly me, I thought the cops always hung out at doughnut shops....
Not that I know the exact route Mr Crunch has planned, but looking at Google Maps between the fire house and Barbara's Fish Trap I can tell this is going to be fun. :thumb:
And in any event it can't help but beat walking three miles in sub-freezing temps and wind to Five Guys. :) It also can't help but beat walking back...as I will do now. :(

It would be great to see you guys again, and meet lexm, but I'm just getting over being sick for a week and don't quite feel up to riding 25 miles. :(

Sorry to miss you. Maybe next time.
Weather looks good tomorrow, sunny and low 50s. Just a little chilly for us Californians. The hearty Lexm from Chicago will be in short sleeves, I'm sure.

Indeed, there were people on this ride.. here we have 4 out of the 5 riders heading North along the pathway .. Alan is on the phone undoubtedly doing important business.

Alan was gracious enough to invite us to ride to his home for snacks and coffee after our 20+ mile ride... He does know how to live life!

the bikes aren't bad either
Heh, in that pic lexm reminds me of Newman of Seinfeld fame, looking very very satisfied with something evil he had just perpetrated...

Nice scenery; more variation than down here on So. CA coast. Definitely would have been uncomfortable on one of my Fridays and totally out of place on my Dahon!!!
Jur is watching Seinfeld reruns in AUS??? Of course we don't have too much other stuff to export...lol
