Winter Cycling - Leg Warmers

Mine are about 6 or 7 years old so time for new ones. Any diffence between brands or are they all for the most part made of the same material and have a zipper?

If anything, I found that the more expensive the leg warmer/tight, the shorter its lifespan. :D I bought Sugoi Mid-zero and Sub-zero tights at the same time that I bought two pairs of Pricepoint leg warmers. That was four years ago. The Sugoi tights were well-worn the first year and in the garbage can mid-second year. The Pricepoint leg warmers are still going, but one pair is getting a little ready for replacement. Not bad for nearly daily use and $11.

One of my employees bought the Illuminite leg warmers; those barely lasted a couple months of regular (but not daily) use.

So, my opinion is completely in favor of the good value. YMMV.

But are some warmer then others, all have zuppers or for the most part all are about the same?

You may consider thermal pants as well. There are several brands but the most popular are Under Armor and DriStar. They can be worn as is as well just like lycra cycle gear. In the winter I wear the thermal pants with a pair of regular pants (usually jeans) over them, as it warms up I lose the jeans. When it gets even hotter I switch to either the regular Summer Under Armor pants or shorts.

I can't say for legwarmers, but in my experience, for kneewarmers and armwarmers, there's a definite difference between brands, and even between models of the same brand.

After owning cheap ones, I'll never again own kneewarmers that don't have an articulated knee.

My Voler leg warmers (and knee warmers) are fleece lined. :thumb:

couldnt be happier with my Nashbar brand leg warmers...very warm and block the wind great... only cost $15!!! and they have a zipper...Ive ridden down in the 20s with extra wind chill and they have done great.

Voler stuff is the bomb.

It's too bad that they no longer sell their "training" shorts. They were the best in the business for their price.
