I received the following note from Craig Welton of Best Buddies last night. He is in a bind and needs to get his hands on 20+ tandems for a 2 mile charity ride event to be held on the grounds of Hearst Castle in San Simeon TOMORROW. Hello my name is Craig Welton and I work for a non-profit organization called Best Buddies. Our organization works specifically with people in the community who have intellectual disabilities. This Saturday, October 16th, we are holding a fundraising event called the Volvo Hearst Castle Challenge. This is a 100 mile bike ride from Carmel to the Hearst Castle in San Simeon California. A portion of this ride is a 2 mile Celebrity Tandem event to be held on the grounds of the Hearst Castle. Our celebrities include Maria Shriver, Professional athletes and actors that will be matched up on tandems with individuals who have intellectual disabilities. The event is going to be aired nationally on CBS Sports. We had everything all squared away and the bike provider backed out at the last second. We are in a pretty tough bind and need 20+ Tandem bikes for the event. I really need any help that you might be able to provide whether you have any ideas for bike rental places or if you have any friends who can provide bikes or anything like that we would really appreciate it. If you could please give me a call as soon as you get this I would love to speak with you.
