Hey, all! I live in Baltimore and commute downtown on a junky Diamond Back hybrid I bought at a police auction for $75 (I had two Specialized Sirrus bikes that were stolen, one after the other, so I figured I would slum it this time). I also ride in an occasional century ride.

I loved biking as a kid growing up in Chattanooga, TN---I went through a Schwinn 12-speed phase for a few years, but mainly road a Haro dirt bike. I stopped for a few years after college, but got back into it about 2 1/2 years ago (I'm 33 now) to get into better shape and save some $$.

I'm totally hooked on it now and love my daily commute. Also, I'm completely obsessed with building up a fixed gear, and plan to buy a frame and parts as soon as I can pull the $$ together. I'd love to hear how some of you other FG fanatics got into it.

I'm a 69 year old athlete two Olympic teams 60-64, world XC ski winner, dozens of national ch., masters and senior, have been training since 13 years old, performing at the top of age always.

Rode the bike throughout the French Alps all summer with way too much anerobic level work (5000 miles), heat rate went from resting 43 to 71, when even walking HR to 130! Blood tests show they are Ok, has anyone heard of this much overtraining with those numbers?

Thanks! Where in Baltimore did you live? I live in Parkville, just east of Towson. Do you get back here much?
