Bicycle Mechanics - Old frame build with 700c wheels... need drop bolts?!

I'm building up an old frame with new 700c wheels and can't get my SRAM Rival brake calipers to fit. I don't want to have to buy long reach calipers unless I really have to. I think need to make up about 1.5cm on the back and 2.5cm on the front using drop bolts. If anyone has any or knows where to get them I would love to know.

The amount of drop you need is beyond what's available commercially, which is usually limited to about 10mm or less. You could do something a la Sheldon Brown, but with all due respect to an old friend, I don't think you'll get decent rigidity unless you do a very good job.

Your best bet is to buy new calipers that reach, and this is coming from someone who hates telling folks to just buy new.

I don't think they ever made dropbolts to fit DP style brakes. I agree with FB your better off buying brakes that fit the bike rather then mickey mousing something.

There is no point in using SRAM Rival calipers with ****ty, flexy, creaky homemade drop bolts. Just buy long-reach brakes.
