Schwinn Super Letour 111 12.2 4130 crmo 58cm in decent condition may be a 1986 model is the only information I have at the moment. Is this a quality bike and what is a good price for it? Seller asking 250$

I thought some Schwinn expert would have responded by now.
I am not an expert, but I will offer my two cents.

The 12.2 is a well regarded model. - About 1984 they offered a Super LeTour 12.1 in CrMo. (http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1981_1990/1984Ltwt12.html) and by '85 it went to Columbus tubing.

FWIW, I am not familiar with any hyphenated version Super LeTour "III-12.2"

I have seen the 12.2's listed on CL around here from time to time, in the $200 neighborhood, in nice condition- so I think $250 is a bit high, but depending on your market, it may not be all that unreasonable if it's clean and fully road ready.

The Super Le Tour 12.2 was only made in the 1976, 1977, and 1978 model years.

1976 Super Le Tour 12.2 (http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1971_1980/1976_08.jpg)

1977 Super Le Tour 12.2 (http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1971_1980/1977_07.jpg)

1978 Super Le Tour 12.2 (http://www.trfindley.com/flschwinn_1971_1980/1978_12.jpg)

The Le Tour III was a 1978 model.

There was no Super Le Tour III 12.2.

 WHAT! I'm Shocked, Shocked I tell you to find someone on CL exagerating about a bike or making a statment about the model that's inflates its value!!!!

Thanks for correcting me on that, Scooper. I didn't even notice that they'd dropped the "12.2" suffix by 79.

If it is an 80's LeTour and not a 12.2 - What do you think the value is? - Maybe $150 ish?

There were too many models equipped with various quality components for me to guess without actually knowing what it is. Some early eighties LeTour models had carbon steel frames while others had single-butted generic 4130 top and down tubes and carbon steel stays and forks. Later Le Tours had double-butted 4130 or Columbus Tenax frames.

The 12.2s, double-butted 4130 and Tenax bikes are lighter and more desirable than the carbon steel bikes, and the fully chromed 12.2s are especially desirable. I'd say the these bikes in good condition range in value from ~$100 for the straight gauge carbon steel bikes to ~$250 or so for the chromed 12.2s and later Tenax bikes. Just MHO...
