Hybrid Bicycles - Very SAD, but it's time to see the trek fx 7.7 go. =(

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So, after owning the 7.7 not for really very long, I've decided to let it go.
Not long after acquiring the 7.7 I purchased a road bike that was really the perfect match for me. At this point, the 7.7 just sits in the garage begging to be ridden, but most of the time I ignore it's laments and jump on my Caad 9.5.
I'm willing to let the bike go for $1300- $1400, but don't know where to advertise to maximize my chance of selling it. I've looked on ebay and not a lot of Fx series are being sold there. Craigslists is full of 100-200 hybrids and i simply can't compete with that.
Any advise?
If you live in a college town or somewhere that has shops that sell used bikes, maybe you can work with your LBS? At least they would appreciate what it is worth and would probably be even more willing to work with you if you'd accept store credit.
I really think you should try Craigslist. My guess is there won't be many 7.7's you'd be selling against. The price you're looking for is signifcantly lower than a new one. I can see people lusting after the 7.7, but not being able to justify 2K. You may be shocked to see the interest you get.
I let my 2010 7.7FX go as well on craigslist. got about the same price you're asking for it. You can definitely compete on craigslist. If your price your bike attractively enough, you will get a seller. I got the same amount I was asking for my bike and not a penny less.
Another option is to go to local bike shops and ask if they can sell it for you. Sometimes they get better prices than CL but you will also be paying a sellers fee to them. I'd rather pay a local bike store a sellers fee than pay ebay in case a dead-beat bidder wins your bike! I haven't used ebay in years for that very reasons. You can get deals in tons of other places.
Best of luck on the sale and congrats on your road bike!

Bike is practically sold. I posted it on cragislist and i have someone stopping by to see it with the $$ in 20 minutes.
so long.
What can the 9.5 do? Nothing, they are very different machines and they both do what they were intended for beautifully.
EDITED:
Guy came in, like it.. and said he wanted to negotiate. I told him thanks and sorry to waste his time, but i was abundantly clear that the price was not negotiable on the electronic correspondence we exchanged.
So I simply grabbed the bike and brought it back inside as i politely said my good nights.
Figures. We'll see what happens. =)

I use my Road bike as my primary commuter but keep my Hybrid set up with fenders and racking for poor weather and touring. It was never a question in my mind as if I was keeping it or not. Now I have my mind set on a pugsly for off road and deep winter riding. I am keeping my road bike light and use the Trek Hybrid as a work horse

What size is the frame, and will you deliver to Tennessee? :)

John.
It's a 20 Inch frame. I'm 5'8 and it fits me like a glove (though on paper i should ride a 17.5). I've had 6' friends comfortably ride with me on the trek and someone as small as 5'6" without issues.
Please PM me if you are interested.
