Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Anybody use the protype sugino 75 BB?

Anyone here? I'm talking about the one that goes for only $35 at ben's. More specially I want some information about it's durability on the long run compared to the loose ball one's from sugino. My friend has one but he just has a bike to have one. I'm thinking of choosing a cartridge BB because the bike its going on is going to be exposed to the elements. If you ask, why 75's on a bike you're going to beat around campus on? I just recently got my 4th and cheapest set of 75's, ever.

Yea but they were pretty cheap for a reason... they've been overly loved and broken in cosmetically despite being on only 1 bike for it's lifetime... heck they don't even say sugino 75 anymore... you won't even know if they're 75's unless you recognize the design or look on their underside...

And this isn't your typical beater, it's another coghouse 727TR, my 1st one which is a tad bit small for my liking.

75s will "work" on any number of sealed bbs. But if you've owned 4 sets you probably already know that. The particular bb you're talking about is the 103 mm model made for the rd cranks. It may place the crank too close to or contacting your frame, especially with your apparently heavily worn cranks (especially if the part that interfaces with the axle is worn). I used a shimano 110 for a while, worked OK. Now I use a campy Mirage, which is a surprisingly much better bb. Cheap cartridge bbs are just that, cheap.
They are never really that smooth to begin with and they never get much better. That said if you're not riding in truly crappy, salty conditions they are serviceable for quite some time.

I don't know but I think I might actually give that BB a try.... my other 3 sets are mated to 75 BB's, including 1 to a superlap on my pcept.... on another hand I might just have a friend remove the 75 BB from cdale track I have as a table ornament back home and mail it to me here.

prototype 75? Can you help show a picture? I know that theres a Sugino sealed cartridge bb for around $35-45, meant more for their messenger crankiest. Then there's the Sugino 75 looseball bb meant specifically for Sugino 75 crank arms. The tapers are different.

ahhh gotcha.

I use a sugino JIS BB on mine. Not my choice...cranks came used w/ my older bike and already had JIS installed, so I guess I have to stick with it now. Works fine, though, and I've put a lot of miles on it. I donno what length it is, but it gives an almost perfect chainline.

Now that's a name I'll trust; anybody now a site that carries them? On another note; I found one on ebay, which was the same exact price as the 75 BB from sugino off bikeisland.
