So I bought an item my roommate broke and the broken one was split half and half for pricing. I buy like $30 worth of accessories. I didn't care if he used it as long as he doesn't break it and he uses everything up. The other day I come home and everything is pretty spent. Today I was out and it was late. I get a call saying I need to buy this and that on the way home, if I am coming home. In my mind if he wants to use it go to the store and get more...Why should I spend my money on what I barely used.

Interesting... if we knew what you were talking about.

I can't stop staring at the thread title. I've got to get more sleep. Nothing's making sense anymore.

You and your roomie have an agreement about the rent and the bills, right? Did you not make an agreement about groceries & disposables? If not, have yourselves a sit-down and come up with a budget; either you take turns on the groceries & such, or you each put a set amount in the cookie jar and then shop. If you can't get that together, you will have to default to eating things your roomie doesn't like so you'll have food. Might as well divie up the chorse while you're at it!

Hey Fuzzy! Nice to hear from you! OK, first off it doesn't matter what the item is, what matters is dude used it all up, so I say dude should restock whatever it was he used. If he disagrees then I think its time for him to start buying his own ****. (and also time for you to start looking for a new room mate)

If it's something that you barely or rarely use, I'd tell the roomie you ain't got the spare change at the moment. Tell him you have to buy some personal hygiene products- that should defuse the argument before it even starts.

He who uses the last of it, buys more. That is the law that has been passed down to us by wise, and drunk, college students of the past.

You're right. Tell him the cheap scotch is all we gonna have until he learns to quit dropping the bottles and starts pitching in for the good stuff.

I'm working on it. I just need to find a new place that meets the requirements but I have no time anymore to do anything so it is hard.

Can't fix something with a lie, that'll just make the whole situation worse.

Sure a lot of responses...I can't figure out a darn thing that is going on in the OP.

Roommate telling you that you need to stop and get something? Is the roommate and ex-spouse, or something? Heh!

(meanwhile, back slightly-off-campus, the current student tenants are squabbling about who's going to move into the newly renovated space in June.....)

I have better taste than that. Murphys is the choice when I feel like getting something good. I've looked at a couple houses and the one I wanted got rented out before I could look inside.

I've found Natty Light on sale at 7-11 for $10/case...for that kind of value I don't even argue about cost, anymore...

How can anyone make sense of this?

So I bought an item my roommate broke
Did you buy it before your roommate broke it? Did your roommate offer to sell you something that was broken and you bought it cuz it's still good for something even though it's broken?

and the broken one was split half and half for pricing.
So you guys pitched in on something that was broken?

I buy like $30 worth of accessories. I didn't care if he used it as long as he doesn't break it and he uses everything up. The other day I come home and everything is pretty spent.

Consumable that is breakable. Hmmm. Not TP, I guess.

he wants to use what to get to the store and get more what?

One of the most confusing post I've read in a while. I don't know if this is about bike accessories, groceries, cleaning supplies or drug paraphernalia. From the disorganized sentence structure, I'll go with drug paraphernalia.

haha does it really matter what the item is? it isn't droogs

As it stands, I think I'm primarily interested in the exact meaning of "broke" in the passage above.

The story makes no sense. All the statements don't seem like they could possibly apply to the same item.

Is it something that's still useful after it gets broken?

This is reminding me of the thread where the guy wanted to know more about his carbon frame but refused to tell anyone what make / model it was. :)

The broken item cannot be used. You need items to use said object. More secrets ftw
