Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just got back from running some errands, had to go to the post office, hardware store, and the bike shop. I felt silly driving to the bike shop (as it is all of 2 miles from my front door) so I layered up and set off into the frozen, windy abyss. Ok, maybe that description was a bit dramatic. It was 27 degrees and gusty, but the roads were clear(ish). I put in 12 miles by time I got back.
So, who's still out there riding? Southerners need not apply . j/k, apply within and help motivate us northerners with the human hamster wheel (trainer) blues.
I'm still riding, but northern Europe, the last days the temperature have peaked at 44 degrees, the warmest for a couple of months.
The coldest ride this winter was a windy 10 degrees, that was so cold I used my balaclava and alpine climbing mitts.
At 5 degrees and windy it makes it tough. We also keep getting these small snow storms that are just enough to mess up the roads. So I have moved indoors to a club where I spin and run on the treadmill as much as I can with a bad leg.

I am still riding. Rode last Monday before the snow hit here in Central PA(State College). 23 degrees. But now the roads are all messed up with cinders and we are supposed to get some nasty weather the next couple of days so I am not sure if I will make it out this week. I did just build a retro cross bike with some bigger tires to handle the roads in this kind of weather. I have been trying to get out at least once a week in the frigid weather.

I rode in the bitter cold a few days ago, and every day since. Today was in the high-30s, which is good, but it was raining, which is bad.
I just hope it doesn't turn to freezing rain overnight for tomorrow's commute.

I have a 5 ....err10 (most of the time) mile rule. I always shop and go to the gym on my bike, although sometimes we may go hungry if it's too cold.;)

Those cinders are NASTY. I had a bad wipeout on those things as a kid and have the scars to prove it.

I spend most of my time in Classic and Vintage Section but have been increasing spending more time here. I'm riding, but not enough to offset my weight gain. Here is a picture of me after mountain biking on Christmas morning (the bike has studded tires).

Hey, it was mid 30's when I rode up into the mtns at night. 30 mph downhill had to add to the chill.:D Actually Polar for a California southerner.:p
But with the rain over the last few weeks, I did get lazy.

No, it is just one of my bikes. 29ers work great in snowy and icy conditions (more surface area on the trail).

I made a pair of pure (Italian) cashmere leg warmers last night, and tested them with about 75 minutes of cycling. They're very warm, until I start to sweat, and then they give up their insulating power until I cool off again. I ride pretty much every day, but now it's just a little more comfortable. :D

I was expecting old people in bathing suits. I am very disappointed.

Still cycling in England, although "cold" here for most people means anything below about 50 F (seriously, there are days I go out in a T-shirt and see people dressed for Arctic blizzards). I'll still take the bike out below 30 F once in a while, but since I don't have spiked tyres I avoid going out if I can see the roads are icy.
30mph down a big hill getting snowflakes to the face and bits of mud and grit pinging off the tyres in all directions was an interesting experience. That's what happens when you go from muddy trails to gravel paths to nice long steep downhill roads.

That's just wrong... now I need to find some soap to wash my eye's out!
OP, I'm still riding... oh wait... no I'm not! My free hub stopped being so free and it's now in the shop and I'm waiting on a replacement and new bearings... only 500 miles on the thing!

I ride all the time here in Michigan. My mileage is probably half what it is during warm weather, but temperature should not deter anybody. It's like cross country skiing, you are more likely to overdress.

Im out and about at least 3 times a week with a longer ride at weekend (25 mile +). Temps in the mid - 30's to low 40's as I mainly ride at night after work.
I prefer to cycle outdoors no matter what the weather - indoor trainers just dont do it for me :)
