Hi , I have learned a lot from this site and would like to participate. I am in my mid fifties and will be starting my fourth season on a road bike in March. I have been a mountain biker since 1983. In early '08 I had a spectacular over the handle bars crash (while trying to keep up with a guy 25 years younger) that resulted in shoulder surgery.When I asked the doctor when I would be able the to get back into the woods, he said not for six months (September). I then realized that I had to come to grips with my fear of the road and riding in traffic. Bought a road bike (Specialized Roubaix)and quickly became addicted. My only regret was not doing it sooner.
