Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Which one should I get?

Hey guys, I'm looking to start out with a cheap SS, probably no more than 300 bucks. My friend has this one here: http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1083175_-1_20000__400306 which i really enjoyed riding.

But I was thinking about going aluminum and the only one I found under 300 was this one: http://www.2wheelbikes.com/xg-7000-road-bike.html. I understand Greenline doesn't really make many road bikes. And I can't seem to find any reviews at all on this bike. What do you guys think?

I've decided not to go with the Greenline. Instead, my options are:

Note that I'm not exactly an expert on all the parts of a bike. So if you ask me, they're all the same bikes.
Please help me make a decision based on the specs. :D

If your using it just to commute I would go for the SE, aluminum frames are a little rough for road use. If you aren't set on those two you should definitely shop around before making a final decision, there's alot of options out there.

Okay, forgot the Greenline. SE Draft or Windsor Timeline?

I say go for the draft. they have a better name for bikes then the other company. I've never even see that.

I'd go for the bikesdirect windsor. However, you'd get a much, much better bike if you start checking craigslist and other local classified sites twice a day.

I purchased a 2010 SE Draft as my introductory bike. Overall I'm pretty happy with the frame itself. Albeit a heavy frame, having the steel has been great. I've had a couple of pretty hard core falls and accidents and the frame nor fork has a bent or been compromised at all. After one of the accidents I spent nearly 30 minutes examining the frame because I was sure I had bent it because of how hard the head-on collision with a curb was. To my surprise, the fork and frame were in perfect condition. I have turned the bike into a fixed gear and began upgrading most of the components

The components, on the other hand, are very cheap. The brake didn't work well at all. Although the break cable was pulled nice and tight, I really had to squeeze the brake lever really hard to stop the bike. The seat is about as uncomfortable as a saddle you can find. The handlebars are wrapped with a cheap foam wrap. The rims are nice and light but come non-machined so the brake pads wear the paint of the lip of the rim. I would say the crank set is on par with all the other components. It's just a cheap crank set that gets you by.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the frame as I mentioned but the components will leave MUCH to be desired. I don't know anything about the other bikes your considering but I hope this helps you some. Good luck in your search and most importantly, enjoy your new bike.
