I was 11 yrs old at the time and my family and I turned on the TV. The 1984 Olympic road race was on. I watched it till the end to see Alexi win the gold. I decided after that I wanted a road bike and with in a few months of saving (and some help from my parents) I bought a KHS Fiero road bike for about 250.00.

I just happen to hear that Alexi is signed up for the Cat 1s at the Callville Classic Stage Race here in Vegas. I am so excited about this.

Probably is but I had not heard about it. Interesting. I had heard a number of rumors and stories about Grewal's state of being. None of them would have led me to believe racing again was in his future.

alexi is sorta famous for training in the foothills around here (he lives about 10 miles south of FC), on an old mountain bike and hiking boots.

stories of sightings are like yeti lore, people talk about grinding up a steep climb on the rivet bleeding from the eyeballs only to be passed by this crazy old dude in jean shorts and hiking boots.

The news that Alexi was going to start racing again has been floating around for some time. Although, Alexi showing up at our local stage race is recent news.
