Classic & Vintage - Separated at Birth?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Who owns a bike or frame built the year you were born? Post a pic.
Furthermore, has anyone dated a frame or bike to the exact day or week you were born? Who can come the closest?
I think I had a Moto from the year of my birth, '76, but I didnt narrow it to the month and I gave it to my dad. I'll have to check it.
Here's that one for now, just so I have something to show :)

My new '71 Paramount was built sometime during the month of my 13th birthday, March specifically. It would have made the perfect gift for a new teenager, (in my dreams)!

When I turned sixteen i had a bottle of Australian Red Wine made in the year I was born (77) that my uncle had set aside for me. It was terrible.

The only possibility I might have is the Viking I picked up last weekend - but I rather doubt it.
Know what this means? holiday gave me an excuse to get another bike.

Ive never thought about it before, but now ill think about it every time I add a 'new' bike to the garage. Being the same age as me could save some lucky bike from getting sold when I have too many pile up and its time to make some cuts, but the closest thing I have is a 85 Norco(a year older than me) and its ways too small.

The closest I can come to 1959 is my Legnano. The person I got it from thought it was from 1961.

Please tell me you just installed the threadless stem so the fork would stay in place for the photo. Threadless stems on a vintage bike just look funny.

Just checked the Viking's serial number. It starts with 59, with a superscripted 0, then a four number code, with another superscripted 0, and then 22 (which is the size of the frame in inches). I may have my twin.

Exactly! It was just there as a handy way to hold the fork in place for pictures. It has an age appropriate Campagnolo headset ready to install.

Here's an '88 Nishiki Olympic that was too small for me, and have since passed along. I had a early Diamondback as well that I suspected was around the same. Most everything else I've had has dated me pretty well.

I've also been close with bikes that had a known date, and the closest in the current fleet is my '63 Paramount. And there's a '62 Raleigh Gran Sport frameset hanging in my basement. But I have yet to find something born in 1960, as was I.

Old?? Dream on. And try finding a vintage 1954 bike - my LBS has a '54 Raleigh Lenton Sport on display, but that is literally the ONLY bike of that age I've ever seen. Where's that 64cm '54 Herse randonneuse "barn bike" I keep fantasizing about??

A little disambiguation here:
- An adjective cannot modify another adjective, so obviously you intended that "super" be applied to the noun "people", and not to the adjective "old". ;)

I used to help in my uncle's shop by putting those together. They looked sharp, and I coveted one, but I ended up with a Fireball instead. Just as well - I think they rode better than the Chopper.

186928Read up Shorty Haters, there's love on the Fourm! Those little fenders are called Shorties, the smallest ligthest thing you can still call a fender. Functional? you bet cuz there purose in life is to liik sweeeeet. No they do nothing and stop nothing. These are alloy Bluemels which I recieved from a closet Shorty lover on the Forum. you can find them on ebay and there is even a Thread on the forum about Shorty Fenders.

I left the factory in October 1980. My Voyageur 11.8 left the factory a little less than six months later, so pretty close.

I've got one from the year after, but none of my exact vintage. Anyone got a 56-60cm '79 (preferably from April) they'd like to sell?
Undoubtedly cool, but my bicycle tastes are stuck in the early 80's.

It's already been a victim. I pilfered the wheelset and handlebars for my touring Voyageur. It's upstairs laying on the carpet, without wheels, like an injured horse or something. It makes me sad. I need to build some wheels for it and soon.
