Im in southern NH and we have only had about three major snowfalls. the first one i rode on the street with my beater bike, not any real riding i would say, just messing around. the second one we had 12-14 inches and i wimped out.
But, on the third one i had just finished using the snowblower and i went out for a ride in the big cementary close to my house. I used a bicycle i had just gotten for winter use.
the cementary was plowed carelessly like always and some roads of it where unplowed. While i was in the cementary i saw this mcdonalds bag with empty fries holder, i picked it up to throw away and put it in my pocket, i didnt think anything of it. i was having a blast, but then decided to venture onto one of the unplowed roads for some fun.
There was only about 6 inches of snow. i plowed through it like nothing becouse it was still loose. after riding for about 50 fet i was feeling good enough so i decided to pick up the pace and accelerate. not even 10 seconds later iwas on my side with a face full of snow. the bike had seemed to slip rite from under me. there was a large patch of ice hidden under the powdery snow.
i got back up and brushed myself off. i then noticed that my cellphone was gone. i looked around and found it wrapped inside of the mcdonalds bag i had picked up earlyer. that bag probally saved my phone from being water dameged or lost. i guess my karma was pretty good.
it was starting to get dark so i headed home having learned a few new things from this ride:
Studded tyres are gunna help alot
fenders really do help!:roflmao:
Always pick up litter
keep phone in ziplock baggy

Those are valuable lessons and well learned. I learned this year to take off my clipped pedals and go with the platforms. There is nothing quite like the feeling of being "stuck" to the pedals as you start the fall to earth. Enjoy the Season!!

# 1: Why are you riding through a cemetery?

# 2: They probably didn't plow the cemetery correctly to get more business; people are just dying to get in baaadddum bump!

#3: Who could have been having McDonald's while in a cemetery? Spooky!!!

OH~Treker,
I know what you mean by that. It must be the worst feeling ever.

exile,
1-It is really big and not many cars go through. Its also quite peacful and beautiful. I love riding there for the view and it has inclines, declines, sharp turns, wide turns, and a very long stretch of flat road.
2-They only plowed some so that the general areas were accesible. but this is understandable as the headstones ar under 3-4 feet of snow.
3-I suspect it was one of the city plowers that have to plow it. I could be wrong though. It was in the far back on a plowed road. Maybe a goast got hungry after 100 years.
