Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Like it says, what were you up to when your Dad or Mom were the age you are now?
When my Dad & Mom were my age (they're 10 days apart in age), I was graduating high school, & looking forward to going to college in Florida on a full scholarship. I had a pregnancy scare that summer with my girlfriend. Damn, that was a long time ago.
Just a twinkle in my parents' eyes.

I'm 56. When I was 56 my mom and dad were retired already, dad was spending his time tinkering in the shed and traveling out west with mom.
I can't retire until I'm 65. :(

When my mom was 45 I was 8 years old and my younger brother was 7... she was a single mom working to take care of us and my two older siblings and she made sure we never wanted for anything important.
We were poor but never knew it.
She had a 9th grade education but is and was otherwise very well educated and very well read and soon after this went back to school to get a nursing degree which she completed at 50 years of age.
She did not retire until she was 70 and continued to volunteer at a nursing home until she was well into her 70's and is now 83 and is still enjoying some rather good health.
She is one of my greatest heroes.

I'm 49. I got married 2 days before my Dad's 49th birthday. I've been married to the same sweet, wonderful woman ever since.

When my dad was my age I was hoping he would never find out that I'm not the angel he always thought I was. (He never found out)
When my mom was my age I was thinking "Dang, I hope she never dies".
*sigh* :(

I didn't exist yet.
I was flying training missions for carrier operations and getting ready for Desert Storm.

When my parents were my age... it was 1988. I was in the 5th grade (going into 6th) already, with little sisters in 3rd and 2nd, all the same school. Wow.
We currently have one baby who just converted to toddler-ism.
Makes me feel like a big sissy.
I was learning how to walk, and my folks were dealing with having a child in their 40s.

When my father was 45, I was 18. I would have been trying to figure out how to become a millionaire without having to further my education. Couldn't come up with an easy answer, so I continued with my education. In hindsight, I should have put everything I had into Microsoft shares.

I was ten. My dad was perpetually angry, mom was passive aggresively in charge, and most of my siblings had moved out.

I was 19, living in a rent-controlled apartment in SoHo, NYC, attening NYU. SoHo was still a struggling artist/old-world Italian neighborhood; old men guarded the corners at night, and one could wander around in safety at all hours of the night. Ken's Broome Street Bar was new; the chalk boards carried well known artist's creations - to be erased after a day or two.
I was just getting used to a new grade one class. We had just moved.
