Mountain Biking - Fox uppers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Are all fox 32mm uppers interchangeable?
I have a 29'er fork that needs new upper stanchions. Can I use any Fox 32mm upper as a replacement?
Ok, so nobody seems to know.
I bought a set of new uppers on ebay. 32mm stanchions 80-100mm length. Pretty std generic Fox upper. We'll see if they fit my 29'er fork.
I'll revive this thread later when I've had a chance to work on the fork.
Let us know how it goes. My guess is that the 29er version takes a bit longer stanchions, in order to give the proper amount of bushing overlap in the lowers. Let's hope I'm wrong.
I'm sure Fox Tech could have answered the question.
^^ Quite true. But people seem to like to ask questions like that of online forums instead of company techs who actually have the answers .
Go figure.

If you have both just compare the two, if they're identical...

Ahh, but you see, the tech guy will require that I wait on the phone for an hour before he gets to my call. And then only the tech guy and myself will know the answer to my question. Provided that the tech guy is actually a tech guy and knows his stuff rather than an idiot who doesn't know anything but part numbers.
If I post on the forum, then I can see if anyone else has done this and if it's possible. If no one knows and I post new info EVERYONE's knowledge base gets a bit bigger. Assuming, of course, that the next guy looking for this answer knows how to use the search function.

And to think, you were asking us first!
Provided that the tech guy is actually a tech guy and knows his stuff rather than an idiot who doesn't know anything but part numbers.I used to encounter that at Honda (motorcycle) parts counters. Fox is pretty good about having tech support staffed with real techs who know their stuff.
That the tech guy is ignorant is something I've come across more than once. The WORST example was at the auto parts store. A guy asked the parts counter guy for a part for a "92 corvette." The parts guy asked "who makes the corvette?"
It's embarrassing to even remember and I wasn't even involved.
Ok, so I'm bringing this post back up to let anyone who cares know that the stanchions are NOT interchangeable between 26 and 29'er Fox Forx.
The 26're stanchions are 28mm shorter and will disengage from the lower bushings when the fork is extended. So 29'er forks need 29'er specific stanchions.
Bummer.
Anyone need a set of NEW IN BOX Fox 32mm uppers in black for a 26'er?

Rob you should use common sense first. 29er lowers are 1 1/2 inch longer than 26er lowers. The 26er stanchion that you need for your 29er lowers should just be 1 1/2 longer than your 29er spec :). So if your 29er has 100 mm travel, add about 40mm to that so get a 140mm 26er stanchions and you should be ok; the stanchions get past the lower bushings and you still have your 100 mm travel. I just did that.

Guess you already have your answer OP. For future reference, FOX 32mm 26er stanchions are all the same length(independent of travel length)...same goes for 32mm 29er stanchions. So, your theory is wrong, Tths.

Uppers are the same lenght for 26 Talas, float, f series? You sure? Read the last line of my post; its not a theory, i have the 26er parts installed and working on my 29er lowers. It will not be tooo short because i actually located where the lower bushings for both lowers. Dont guess or theorize.
