I have been a registered voter (the pool from which Georgia pulls jurors) for 25 years and I've never been called for jury duty.

I get called up about every 4 or five years. Last time was a for a murder that they were asking for the death penalty. I was glad they did not pick me for that one.

About 20 years ago, my dog got a credit card, preapproved, in the mail. Petsmart had been running a promo where they sent out newsletters to your pet, and someone sold the mailing list. It was purchased by Visa. The worst thing was they offered my dog a higher credit limit than me. :p

Next to last time I was called I was in the second batch of jurors for a trial. The guy was accused of murdering his parents and was pleading not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. When they called our group to the largest courtroom in the building they filled every chair except the ones at the lawyers tables (that meant 14 were alread in the jury box 12+2 alterantes, even though they wer no diffeent from the rest of us).

It was time for concern as it was just after California had tightened up a lot when it came to hardship excuses. The judge however was very reasonable and very prepaired. There were different set of questions to answer. One for those wanting out and the other for those who did not. Basically if your work did not give virtually unlimited jury pay you were out. One guy was very concerend, his company paid, but he was an internal salesperson and about half his takehome was commission. He was out too.

Next time they almost got me. No way out. I had been seated. The excused for cause was over and they were working through the preemptive excuses. I don't remeber which side it was, but one side had passed saying they were fine. But a couple of cycles later thay asked for me to be excused.

Good thing. That court was not organized and they had used up most of the week my employeer paid in just seating the jury.
