Mountain - Plains - Whats the Coldest Temp You Ride in Utahns?

So all of you here in the wasatch front, what's the coldest weather you ride in? Just wondering when I'm being a puss and when I'm being crazy. When do people get out for early rides? What temp have you all found to be the absolute coldest and still bearable?

I have been in Utah for some years now, but last summer was my first in utah back on a bike. Fell in love again and have spent this winter in serious withdrawal as the indoor trainer is a bit drab. I grew up and spent most of my days in northern california where I would ride all year, as long as I didn't mind getting a little wet.

Maybe even some suggestions on good cold weather clothing that doesn't break the bank?

Doesn't matter what clothes you wear, sucking in air at below zero is going to hurt! Twenty above is about my limit, wearing base layer, insulated underwear, tights, jersey, ski mask, and jacket. Toe covers and beany helps.

I find the limit is generally air quality, not temperature. If it's below 20, the smog is usually so thick you can't breathe even if you wanted to bike. I get headaches and a really sore throat if I try to bike in the smog, so I try to go skiing instead. So, that's my advice, go skiing, spring will be here soon.

The coldest I've ridden is was mid-20s. If I have quality gear on and it's at least partly sunny I can probably happily ride into the mid-teens.

I don't ride in winter for air quality reasons.
