Today, I raced for the first time. I had ridden the course twice over the past 2 weeks. I was able to get around the trail in 48 minutes, and I only crashed once. I could feel my getting a little out of contol and then it tagged a good sized rock and twisted sideways. This caused the back wheel to pop up and eject me from the bike. I landed about 5 feet from the bike with my feet flat on the ground. It was nearly a perfect landing. The guy who was five feet behind me yelled, "That was ******* awesome." Anyway, I rode in the beginners race and finished 3 out of 4. I did however beat quite a few from the sport class who started with us. Unfortunately it was the last race of the NCCCC MTB season.

I am hoping to find some more races to ride in.

Nice job. My problem in the past was that sometimes I'll be too stubborn and end up going down with the ship. Knowing when to bail from the bike during the crash can save you valuable time.

Hehe, I didn't really have a choice because I lost my grip right when I hit the rock and I just blasted off. Kinda makes me glad I had platform pedals instead of clipless.
