i noticed shwaxinator's post about his bike being slightly sluggish like the avid mech brakes were partially applied, i know for a fact that my avids have a slight problem with the outboard pad adjuster and this might be part of shwax's problem but also want to know others' experiences with it - the outboard adjuster is fine when you twist the pad towards the disc, but doesnt really retract properly when you twist it back the other way. (is that a good description?)

not a huge issue since i can easily push it in place, and it doesnt really get stuck (i.e. springs back properly) when i let go of the brake. any thoughts?

Most of them dont fully retract, if at all...back to the disc. My rear brake is like that, but havent really noticed anything. If you are really worried about it, call up Sram and ask them about it. Are you meaning that the piston doesnt retract? Or that the pad itself stays put...could be the little H spring-clip in there. I really love Avids stuff, and would have bought the Juicys if Sram hadnt bought them over. If its not affecting your riding, why worry about it :D

sorry: meaning the piston retracts but the pad stays put, needs to be "encouraged" back to where the piston is, yeah i noticed it could be the spring clip but not sure how it worked so i didnt fiddle.

nah not too worried, like i said no big issue since the pads spring back properly after braking. Thanks

I have noticed the same type of thing happening. I think most of my problem was coming from my rear axle not being seated properly, which I haven't yet pinned down WHY it is/was happening. I heard a trick about using a credit card or something like it to put against the rotor and press the pad back, which "resets" the brakes - but I have forgotten the all important specifics. :)

any clues?
