Hi, All!

Originally an LA resident (Atwater Vilage, for anyone out there who knows where that is) and was commuting 12 miles to Studio City on my green Giant:

Moved to SF in July 2009, took the free riding skills class and finally had to learn to use my gears. Participated and volunteered in Sunday Streets and (my biggest bike-complishment in the last 12 months) finally talked the husband into getting a bike and gave HIM the bike bug, too! (YAYY! Sort of)

Now, I'm ready to seriously start looking at a newer bike myself - here's my super long post about THAT: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/709188-New-Bike-for-an-overthinker?p=12125956#post12125956.

'Hope to make it to some group rides in town this year (WITH my bike date!) and, now that my date has HIS ride, also looking forward to exploring more of the Bay Area on bike!

Happy Cycling peeps!

Welcome to the forums. I enjoyed living in the city (Richmond district) but the summers with the afternoon fog became a bit much. Now in Vegas a 24 hour town, like the city, but no creeping fog at any time of year... I seldom use any gears, as I chose my route, but have tried a few grades recently... Great you have a riding partner, and I am certain you will enjoy seeing the area on a bicycle, yes you do need to use more than one or two different gears in your new location...
