Foo - Defeat the screen

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm a freelance translator working from home. While there are lots of good things about this gig, I spend way too much time in front of my monitors. Right now we're in the depths of winter, so my bike is in the basement on the trainer. Which I use every day, but only for about 45 minutes, because...it's on the trainer.
Question: What do you do for hobbies or timewasters that don't involve screens of any sort? I need ideas. I need something that I can go to that takes me away from communication devices from time to time so that I can go back to work feeling refreshed.
If you've encountered and thought about this conundrum, what works for you?

I play Classical Guitar or read Philosophy. Right now, I'm reading Utopia, by Thomas More, and getting ready to start on Voltaire's Candide.

Hand crafts. I knit and crochet, but you could also try woodworking or something similar.
I make stuff out of wood.

I like the idea of woodworking. I actually have a saw and stuff in the shed, and I do make the odd thing, but it's not heated, so I don't do anything in there in the winter.
Maybe I should take up whittling?

Wood burning is really fun too... not like setting things on fire, although that isn't bad either.
Bicycle Advocacy group incorporates way too much of my energy right now, but for a good cause - have had to leave off leading rides for my other club to do this. Mtb club, I have trail cleans coming up in the Spring.
Jewerly making, well that's in a box staring at me from under the bed
Several books need to be read, they are also staring at me.
argh! No time for these things staring at me (slams the BIG BOX)
Right now concentrating on bringing up photoshop skills on my own right now because it interests me - good things.
Oh and starting a Zumba class here at college on Wednesday - yay!

I usually read, go for a walk, scrapbooking, or clean.

Please let me know how it goes, I've wanted to try that for awhile.

Skiing when I have the time and I've taken up sewing and I'm trying to talk <3 into teaching me how to knit. I think both of those are good skills for men to have and I'll be teaching the boy how to sow, at least, when he's a bit older.

My bike is on a trainer in the basement and I have yet to ride it since getting it onto the trainer... :)
I usually clean, but lately I have been playing guitar again after taking 20 years off. It's still a 1/2-size Target guitar from my childhood, though, so it's not very rewarding to play...otherwise it's editing home movies, but that involves a screen, so...

Just don't teach the kid to sow a hemp relative, I hear the gendrames in your neck of the woods frown on that.
