Foo - Aparently there's no "legal" beef in Taco Bell's tacos

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It seems the stuff inside the tacos does not meet the legal definition of beef and Taco Bell is being sued for "false advertising".

Less than 35% of the stuff is actual beef, the article says.

What's wrong with wheat flour and soy protein?

It's not like they're making it out of roadkill or something. The wheat and soy is probably healthier, safer, and more humane.

I thought those were caused by the refried beans.

I'm curious as to the beef content in JITB tacos. Seems like there's no real beef in them.

Might want to get to know someone before you make those accusations.

I find comments about Dog food grade meat laughable. Pet food goes through as many or more inspections than human food does. You think they're going to risk someone's muffins dying because of contaminated meat?

Do you really think the meat in taco bell food is really any worse than what you eat in a tv dinner, pepperoni, salami, hot dogs? Meat, by definition, is any edible tissue obtained from an animal. Trust me, you've eaten far worse than what can be found in taco bell beef.

Taco Bell holds the claims are false and are looking into legal action against those making the claims. Sounds to me like we're probably ok to sit back down and enjoy that oh-so-tasty nacho cheese chalupa.

Except for that whole thing with the melamine-contaminated animal feed from China a while back.

Totally agree with the rest of your comment, though.

It would rate as a poor grade of dog food.

Dog food can be pretty posh stuff and often costs more than human food. The treats my dog eats cost more than ribeye steak which I only allow myself to have once in awhile.

It was pretty scary back in the day when JITB packaging had the Ralston Purina checkerboard logo on it.

Ralston Purina made all kinds of food for people back a few years ago which included the checkerboard logo. Where do you think the name "Chex" (as in Chex Mix) came from?
