Greetings fellow hybrid enthusiasts,

A little background info pertaining to the title. I bought a new 2010 7.5 FX here in China last year. It was my 1st bike I have ridden since I was a about 14 years old. I was 48 years old and extremely out of shape(driving a semi over the road).

I had the bike for maybe 1 month or so before I broke my foot and traumatized my left wrist. So, I really didn't get much saddle time on my new steed, it basically just sat while I tried to heal.

In July of 2010 I went back to the States to care for my ailing mother. We have a really nice MUP here and I decided I wanted a bike to ride while I was here, searched Craigslist for something decent to ride. I found a nice double butted lugged steel Trek 330 road bike.

I rode that bike everyday until the weather turned cold in November. Riding this road bike sure gave my core muscles a work out. I went from 245lbs, down to 222lbs, and looked and felt like a new man. My strength and endurance went thru the roof. I thought that this bike was a comfortable ride, until I came back to China this month.

The 1st time I got on my FX, WOW! Words can't really describe how great the bike felt.
When I first got this Trek I really didn't appreciate what this bike was. Alot of people are always saying that the road bars are much more comfortable than a flat bar bike. What I discovered was that the riding position, along with the Ergons I put on, was what my body really enjoys.

That's a nice looking bike you got there. But there's nothing like an old steel road bike.

I have the same bike and enjoy it quite a lot. It does feel like a great hybrid and doesn't mind going fast. I put mountain bike bar ends on with a cat eye computer, some different pedals and added an Arkel handlebar bag, randonneur rack and tailrider trunk bag making it one great commuter/trail bike. Have fun on yours.

Hey redwind7, I just attempted riding up this mountain in China last Wednesday. The bike did great with the triple crank, I only managed getting about 1/2 the way up. On my 3rd ride of the season, me and a couple of buds did a 37 mile ride. The bike felt awesome, I cant say the same for my quivering new born giraffe legs afterwards though.
