I am planning to go to my LBS to check out the Cannondale CAAD10 5, but I don't want to look like a fool pronouncing it wrong.

Is it like CAD?

or COD?

or CADE?

you wanna pronounce it "cad" but hang on the "a" a bit to make it just a tiny bit musical.

good rule of thumb is to imagine that the number of As matches the CAAD version.

so this would be like "caaaAAAaaaAd."

That's good.

It's not a real word, it's a made-up word, kind of like drug names. (cephalexin, for instance) Pronounce them however the heck you wish.

If you have a fondness for fish, pronounce CAAD as "cod".

It's not really a made up word. It's an acronym. Means, Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design, so pronounce how you like or just spell it out.
