Just picked up a rog pony? folding bike, my guess is from the 60's or 70's weinmann brakes, internally geared 3 speed, sturmey archer shifter. says made in germany, lizenz pletscher, E56E on the rear brake bracket. I am wondering if there is any value in restoring it? and if anyone can tell me anything about it? thanks. here is a link to a picture of it.... I have all the original parts, just not on the bike ATM. http://www.flickr.com/photos/58853937@N03/5393902179/

Not sure its worth restoring. Could be fun to customise though :)
There are hundreds of different bikes made with the 'U' frame design, very few are of any major interest.
Did you try riding it? Does it ride well?
If you like the bike then its worth fixing it up. It could be fun to treat it as a blank canvas and try something different with it. You could for example add ape hanger bars and a low rider seat or use dropped handlebars and put deraileurs on it. There are however better old folders out there

what Russ says
its not gonna be a collectors item ..... ever.
They ride funky and are usually heavy ....
BUT to take something like that and tinker around with, find cheap used stuff and try and get a working bike together might be a fun challenge ..... but not for monetary gain

well went ahead and restored it most of the way... guess I am going to put a banana seat on it and probably switch over to a single gear. I will post up a picture when I am done.

I agree with the above, except that they actually ride ok and they aren't that heavy. Unlike the italian folders, they are ~27lbs. Here is my 1972 Rog Pony. It's almost all original (new grips, new brake pads, and new front tube). It has the 3sp SA hub and front dynamo light. I use it to get around the neighborhood.
