I'm 6'0 and about 170lbs. I will be delivering in midtown-west or hell's kitchen area. What are some tips for biking in the winter of NYC? What lock should I get, I'll be in and out through buildings for deliveries so I need something that locks fast and quick. I'm new to this whole delivering on bikes, especially in Winter where on the ground there is a lot of slush and black ice. Do any of you do deliveries in NYC Manhattan?

Mountain bike with fat tires is probably what you need for riding in the snow.
U-lock with extension cable, u-lock hangs on the bike and cable goes in the bag.
Don't go for the chain around the waist look, uncomfortable while riding and will
add to your pain and suffering in a crash.

I worked as a NYC messenger many years ago, on a motorcycle. Now I just commute
to work on my bicycle. I think I still have what it takes :D

I agree on the mountain bike; something sturdy for the beating.

I would definitely go with the U-Lock and extension if you don't want to deal with the uncomfortableness of the chain.
Just remember that you're going to be in and out so you're going to need something that locks fast.

Don't forget the fender for all the crappy wetness outside.
