I own a Scrambler. So, far I love it for what it is. I wasn't expecting anything remarkable, just something simple. and that's exactly what I got.

Out of those two choices, I'd go with the scrambler, its about the same price, quality wise it may not be much different, but it seems to have much more info listed than the other option. Also, there customer service is great.

The info listed for the crosslake one just wouldn't be specific enough for me.

well im currently looking out for the crosslakesales frame, but i currently own a scrambler, and that thing can take a beating,i've bailed a couple times(pretty badly this one time, got hit by a opening car door) frames really beefy, caution the fork is heavy AF, and the dropouts are pretty ugly imo, i don't think the double cage bosses are really necessary, but thats just me, good luck with your search too :)

Eighthinch out of those two. Only because Ive never heard the second. I would save up because you can buy a complete for under 400$ but if you buy a frame, youre going to end up having to buy the cheapest parts out there just to make it financially reasonable. I mean, a wheel set is going to cost you $100. That puts you at $250. Add a crankset, bb, tires, tubes, bars, saddle, seatpost, seat and you are well into the $400+ range. Unless you have money to blow you are better off taking your money towards with a Windosor Hour for just $279 shipped. Its a really decent entry level bike and will provide you with a ton of use and time to think about your next bike.

Thanks everyone for the input. The reason I don't really want a complete is because I have all the components except the frame. The frame I have been riding is quite a bit too small making my back problems worse.

i got my kilo for 170 from bikesdirects' ebay front new so that was a better buy, but not anymore.

A kilo for 170 would be great! like really great! But that's all in the past.
I am like a quarter tempted to do the Windsor thing. But I really don't wanna spend too much, I'm trying to save up for a rental deposit.

Get the hour, sell your parts, have a windsor hour for like 150$. That, is an epic deal.

I thought that not long ago most people on this forum hated Pake. I have no experience with their products, just an observation. Guess the tide has changed.

I think people don't like them because of the weigh.

It's a great frame and it is definitely worth the money.

I bought my (pake) from crosslake and it's a great first timer bike. Tho, I do have to say, didn't exactly come in the best of shape. The fork was a little scratched, was missing an allen lock down for the stem on the handlebar side, and the wheels were out of true. Took a day at the LBS to get everything sorted out. Then the BB blew out (I think it was pressed cup?) and had to get that fixed. But, now that I've sent some time with it, it's pretty much where I want it to be. It's my winter/commuter jam and really brought me into the sport.

Yeah, I ended up buying the Crosslake Pake, luckily just the frame though, so I won't have to deal with that funky hardware bull anyways. Should actually have it by tomorrow!
