Introductions - new to miami.....where do i go??

i just moved to the miami area and have no idea what the bike scene is like down here. i am an ex messenger from richmond, virginia. i love to ride my bianchi fast through traffic. i miss long after work rides....any advice on where to go? i am a girl and no stranger to ruff neighborhoods, but would like to avoid death. so if you have any ideas on decent rides to go, please help!! and is there any work to be found in this town?

any advice on bike shops? i found a cycle gear, and wasnt that into it. would rather support smaller local shops.

The South Florida Bike Club does a weekly ride from Hallandale north to Dania (http://www.meetup.com/soflabikeclub/events/16166340/) on Sunday mornings, it's a very friendly group.

The Miami Critical Mass Meetup group (http://www.meetup.com/criticalmass-40/)also hosts a lot of events, mostly in Miami-Dade county.
