What is considered to be the best spd mtn bike pedal. Taking into consideration cost and weight.
Currently using shimano with no problems, but have been looking at the egg beaters and the time spds
Thanks

My personal favorites are eggbeaters and speedplay frogs. Easy entry with both, eggbeaters seem a bit better in the mud and both are fairly lightweight(if you get Ti version)
Get the Crankbros Eggbeater SS. They weigh 265g and cost 90$US.

I've tried most clipless. I don't realy like the Shimano SPD's, they clog with mud very easily. I do however prefer the ability to change spring tension.
I do like the minimalistic design of the Crank Bros. but prefer at least some platform, so I do like the Candy's.
Never liked the Frogs. Walking and Hike-a-bike sections made the cleat clog with mud/debris. Did like the engagement/disengagement.
My favs are still my Time A.T.A.C's. Never clog with mud, small platform, decent weight. Don't like that you can't adjust spring tension, but I've never really needed to.
