Hi
I did my first "MTb race" this weekend. It was held in the Vredefort Conservancy in our Free State Province and my Wife and I did the "soft" 49km route. I am hooked!!!! I used my Trek 7200 with 700x35c "knobbly" tyres and managed quite well although the corrugated road hurt my wrists and shoulders quite a lot. I now want to buy a mountainbike and found a new Gary Fisher Tassajara (2003 model) for a very good price. Almost half of what they cost new. It has a Manitou Six fork with a Deore Groupset. I spoke to a few of the LBS's in our area and one of them said that the fork will not be suited for my weight. I weigh 125 kg. I am not sure if he wanted to sell me one of his brand bikes. Another down feature is that GF bikes are not represented in South Africa anymore. Trek bikes are though but spares seem to be a problem. It also seems that I will not have a warranty for this bike. Is this a problem. Other bikes in the same class are 8 speed and Alivio equipped. This seems to be a lot of bike for very little. What do I do? My trek is a 22.5" frame , the GF is only available in XL would the bike fit me?
Keep those wheels spinning!!!!
