Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. My wife knits, I bike. The plan: I bike from town to town, she drives from town to town and visits their knit shops. It would be hotel touring not real touring, but I like it anyway. Since I'd be traveling light I could do pretty long days. The Pacific Coast Route looks interesting. The climate means there will be knit shops, I've never been to the PNW, and there's stuff around to spend a day together on a side excursion.
I know it's only a week but it sounds like an adventure to me. What do you think of the plan and choice of route?

Works for you? Works for her? Sounds like it works!
And, btw, if you get there by bike, I think staying in hotels counts as "real" touring.
sounds fun, don't forget farmer's markets!
Downtube,
when I was riding out east one time, I came across this woman sitting in an SUV pulled off along side the road and didn't think anything about it until the next day when about 100 miles later I came upon her again sitting in a park and reading. I thought it was strange but went on, and then on the third day, I run into her again, so I just had to stop and ask where she was going and she told me that her husband was bicycle touring and they would meet up every evening and either camp or hit a hotel and they were going all the way down the coast in that manner, so it seemed to work for them. I think it would be neat, like having your own SAG supported tour.

I wouldn't ask my wife to wait for me alongside the road day after day... not only because I'm a nice guy but because that ain't happening :)

Sounds like a good plan. As "real" as any other kind of tour. Plus you might get some nice sweaters out of it.
