I am thinking of buying a motobecane le champion on bikesdirect.com. I am aware of the risks of buying on line regarding fit and any possible problems with the service etc.
I am willing to take those risks based on the price offered for what seems like a pretty decent bike frame and set up.
I haven't seen any reviews of this bike on this site or any others for that matter and was wondering on ones opinion as to the frame, it's a 2.7lb kinesis frame (supposed to be good !).
Has anyone any experience of this bike, I've heard all the comments about the classic motobecanes but this is a different kettle of fish. Any comments regarding the retailer would be appreciated also. I don't plan on doing any serious racing maybe a few tri's. I need something fast...help !!!!

Check out page 30 of the April 2002 issue of Bicycling mag. They review there the Motobecane Le Champion Team model, a bit pricier than the your Le Champion. They like it and are amazed by the price. No reviews yet on Roadbikereviews.com?

Motos get mentioned quite abit in the General Discussions at RoadbikeReview.com. They usually start flame wars in fact as many seem to feel there must be a catch. Maybe they're just insecure at how much they paid for their aluminum framed racer?

To me it's sad that the storied name of Motobecane is now just another Asian bike but these things happen. If the bike has the spec you're looking for, go for it you're unlikely to find a better deal.
