Scrod,
Is the raw 722 frame more of a brown or a gray? On the website it looks pretty brown but all the photos I see of raw frames make it look dull gray.
Does Angie have long legs? My wife is almost 5'6" and rides a 49cm road bike.
The pic hamfoh posted is an accurate example.
Angie has pretty long legs and arms for her height. She's like a little spider monkey.

I have a quick question on the spoke length. So I'm planning to get a Formula Rear hub 32h (http://www.amazon.com/Origin8-Formula-Track-Rear-Black/dp/B003CO9AAW/ref=sr_1_12?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1322262111&sr=1-12) with a Deep V. I'm probably going to let my LBS build it for me but I want to buy the parts instead of buying a prebuilt wheel. What spoke length would I need for this? I have the calculator out in front of me but I don't have some of the measurements.
Scrodzilla
11-25-11, 04:21 PM
You'll need the actual measurements before you can do anything else. I'm sure the hub measurements are listed somewhere on Formula's website.
I was supposed to leave the sellers note on paypal right? I can't remember if there was a place to leave a message on the actual RG site.

You did it right, calv. Resume breathing.
I must have knocked myself out from suffocation.
Just posting to let you know I'm okay. :thumb:

Good!
Check your damn e-mail and let me know what you want me to do about those pedals.
Done. Surprisingly for whatever reason, I didn't check it this morning until a few hours ago.

So I'm looking at picking up the 1" straightblade steel fork. But the crown race is JIS 27.0. I would like to pick up the Tange Levin CDS, but it has a 26.4 crownrace. Any chance you guys stock Tange Levin CDS in 27.0?
Scrodzilla
11-26-11, 07:07 AM
Out of stock at the moment. 26.4 is actually more common and any bike shop will be able to mill the fork to accept an ISO crown race.

32h? We can get a bunch of Shimano road hubs. How high-end are you looking to go?
um... I was looking to try and get the hubs and either A23 or kinlin xr 270 rims for <$250
And this is gonna be a slightly WW wheelset for my nice roadie, i was thinking 24 front and 28 rear? I think I weigh somewhere around 180 pounds.

Everything we can get in low spoke counts definitely won't keep your wheels costing less that $250.

Mkay. Cuz there is a site selling 277 gram hubsets for 110. Wanted to check with you first. The site is pretty reputable from the road forum.

Scrod,
I'm looking to get a new seat post. I was originally considering the Thomson straight post, but I realized that I have my seat set as far back as possible currently (my current seat post has some setback), so the standard Thomson Elite won't work. Naturally, I was considering the 10º setback Thomson post, but I'm not a fan of how it looks with the bend in it, which leaves me looking at the Deda RS01 or the FSA SL-250. How does the amount of setback compare between the setback Thomson, Deda, and FSA posts?
Scrodzilla
11-28-11, 06:44 PM
Even the Thomson 10º has less setback than a traditional seatpost. On the other side of things, the Deda RS-01 has 30mm of setback - similar to the Velo Orange Grand Cru (which is considered a 'long setback' post).
The FSA post has a little less setback and is nice too but the clamp is kind of a pain. Go for the Deda.
don't forget the miche supertype. a sexy ass seatpost that I wish I had a silver one of!

That is a nice looking seat post, any idea how much setback they have?

None. I called it off because too many people were dragging their feet/being indecisive.

Hey scrod when will you be getting more leader cosmics? And how durable is the suede? Thanks.
Scrodzilla
11-29-11, 09:41 AM
We didn't sell too many of them so we may hold off for a little while. The "suede" is actually a suede-like fabric. No idea how durable it is.

Will you have any 144BCD silver Velosolo chainrings?

We definitely will. VeloSolo was out of them at the time we placed our initial order but they should be here soon.

Awesome! How do do you like them?
Scrodzilla
11-29-11, 04:08 PM
I'm blown away by them.
Aside from gear ratios, I've got identical setups (Sugino 75s, K710-SL chain and Soma cog) on both my 722 and Kagero - the only difference is the chainrings. The VeloSolo ring is actually quieter/smoother than the 75 ring and every bit as round.
Guess we know what chainring to buy. How do you compare it to the FSA? I'm guessing the Velosolo is the better choice since they're about the same price.
re: chainring: well damn... - and they don't look too shabby either. I see a black one in the mash's future. do they ever go over 48t?
also I'm sure you saw, but ordered a second headset late last night. was probably too late to shave you a box, but I take a different approach when ordering from retro-g since each item has its own shipping price and just order what i want, when I want it, instead of letting stuff stack up to a certain value with other sites. it's a good move by you :P

I really liked my FSA chainring. Also really round and about as quiet as the 75 ring.
Are you changing your mind calv?
Nah. I like both the Velosolo and FSA ring, and I'm usually one to choose performance > aesthetics..
But I REALLY like the FSA one!!
I'll get a Velosolo ring for another bike later (2012 722? :D). Or my girlfriends if I can find a better + nicer bike that fits.

Yeah I saw that. We had already sent your wheelset and other headset out though...
Everything does have a set shipping cost based on weight of that particular item but is automatically discounted by a percentage when other things are added to the order. Example: if you buy a Turbo saddle, the shipping charge is 8 bucks. Buy two and the combined shipping is $12.
Also, once orders reach a certain dollar amount it automatically figures in the cost of insurance.
oh wow that's good to know, I didn't know it combined like that. I guess I never played around with it enough so normally if i just need something from you I get it right then. I wasn't trying to 'complain' about the shipping incase it came off like that, because you're still cheaper and/or better than other places 99% of the time

Wow! thats great because that was the other ring I was considering, I'll definitely get one when the silver 144's come in!
I also wanted to praise you for very subtle changes to enhance the RG site, man.
Those vertical bars are much easier on the eyes than the slashes were.

We use USPS for the majority of stuff. Your order was shipped Priority Mail so it should only take a couple of days.

When will the 2012 722TS start being sold? I thought I recalled you had mentioned it'd be a frame/fork combo, any idea of a price-ish? I understand if it's confidential information.
retro-gression is the site that pops up if i type 'r' in my address bar so I'm on there probably 8 times a day
