17t cogs in the cro-mo or somas (chrome) anytime soon?

I feel like if you carried these, it would be awesome Scrod. I know it can't just be me that hates trying to find a 26mm stem.

Those are long gone. It's my understanding that Deda no longer makes them. hamfoh is right - they're more brutal than comfortable. Too much drop.

Scrod, is there any chance you included a "RETROGRESSION" sticker in black? :/

Angie packed up your stuff and I'm pretty sure she threw in a few stickers. If you didn't get a black one (thatsracist.gif), let me know and I'll hook it up.

Both should be here soon.

I still have those bars, and they're pretty nice but also pretty brutal at times. I haven't used them in months but I just like knowing I have them for some reason.

I figured they'd be similar to the RB-021's, do the Deda's have more drop or something?

Scrodzilla

RB-021 has 60mm drop, Deda's have 70mm.

Got my BF stuff from my apartment manager this morning. Nicely packed, for some reason I was expecting a larger box.

Thanks for the extra stickers, I just gotta clean my frame off before putting one on there.

Haha... Yeah cool. Tell her I said thanks if you get the time.

And man, I missed my package today. I got my rims, but not that other stuff. I call total bull**** because I was here at the supposed time and I do not see any sticky notice.

uh oh. I'm thinking at this point the Novatec hubs I have aren't the same ones you are selling, 'cause the spokes seem too long.
I'm watching a vid on youtube and my build lookin' a lil' too floppy right now.

Post a pic. Do you have any way of measuring your hub flanges?

Calv - that sucks about the other package. I hate when USPS pulls that crap.

It was actually pretty windy. The notice probably blew the **** away. I'll just pick it up on Monday. Got finals on Monday and Tuesday anyway. If just these rims are distracting me from studying, think about how much damage the rest of the **** would do to me.

Yeah, the biketube video. haha.
& Here's a picture. I didn't know what to capture exactly but maybe you can see something.

I thought I also might add that the nipples are tightened all the way too.
ALSO...does it look right so far? haha.

My very crude measurements:
Rear Hub:
Flange to flange = ~2 1/4"
Diameter = ~2 7/8"

Front Hub:
Flange to flange = ~2 5/8"
Diameter = ~2 7/8"

ALSO...this might help:
There are numbers on the front hub below the Novatec website that say: T99040600147
Rear hub: T99040600186

calv

http://lenni.info/edd/

Redo your build and check if you got the numbers right. They have novatec track hubs in their system so all you have to do is choose. (The ones Scrod sells are the FHA165SBT, front/rear)

LesterOfPuppets
12-03-11, 11:59 PM
Are you going radial?

mkeHENRY
12-03-11, 11:59 PM
Ahh, I see. I see. Well, let me try and get a better measurement.

^ I'm TRYING to go 3x haha.

update: Man, idk. It seems to be right. The numbers are extremely close to that model above. So, wtf am I thinking?
Maybe I should finish the actual build before I start going crazy. haha.

LesterOfPuppets
12-04-11, 12:21 AM
Yeah, by the time you have leading and trailing spokes laced up the hub will be twisted a bit from its current position (in relation to the rim) and that will take up some slack.

At this point we only know those spokes are too long for a radial build.

I might add that you should leave a few threads showing before you finish lacing spokes.

calv
12-04-11, 12:32 AM
Yeah I wouldn't worry about it. You're going to give the hub a little twist later that will tighten the spokes up quite a bit. You should leave some thread visible on the nipples though, like 3-4.

mkeHENRY
12-04-11, 07:31 AM
I only tightened all the way to see if it was floppy 'cause it was loose.
I was worried because at that point (twisting) their spoke SEEMED to have more tension.
Well, let's try and finish this up now. haha.

Scrodzilla
12-04-11, 09:14 AM
We always use the lacing method found in this book (http://www.icelord.net/bike/ArtOfWheelbuilding.htm) (there's a free downloadable pdf at the bottom of the page). It's pretty easy to tell if your spoke lengths are correct before getting in too far.

Curious about the Leader 722TS frame. I'm comparing it to a Pake Rum Runner and a Soma Rush. Locally, the FG riders hate on Leader frames. Saying they have poor build quality.

Thoughts, Scrod?

Scrodzilla
12-04-11, 11:44 AM
I think you know what my thoughts are considering I own two of them.

Most people who hate on Leader do so because they think that's what they're "supposed" to do because of things they've only heard and have never experienced for themselves. The 722TS is hand tig-welded and overall quality is as good as - if not better than - anything else in its price category. Take a look around these forums and others. There's a lot more good things being said about the 722TS than bad.

People give me **** for supporting Leader all the time and in short - if we couldn't back it, we wouldn't sell it. If I payed attention or cared too much about the naysayers, I'd never get anything done. Do your own thing.

Just saw this, the "RETROGRESSION" sticker I wanted is kind of hard to come by (only had two and I got a black and a white one, I want another black one since I used it already). That's the one I wanted to use to stick on my bike. I have a ton of others ones (like 100 scrod has a posse stickers), man. Don't worry.

mkeHENRY
12-04-11, 01:05 PM
haha, okay. So it looks good. My bad y'all.

The only immediate thing I'm having 'trouble' with is very loose spokes that are kind of poking out more than others.
I think once I get an even amount of tension around all the spokes, they'll hopefully fall into place?

It's becoming more appealing the more I research it.

This is sort of a cross post from another thread I started, but, I'm 6 foot 3 or so, and weigh around 230-240, trying to lose about 25 pounds. Would the 722TS be able to handle my size and weight without undue stress on the frame?

Not Scrod, but I weigh as much as you and haven't had any problems with my 722 at all.

Awesome, thanks for the feedback!! Anyone who owns this frame are the ones I'd like to hear from the most on quality issues. Hopefully after Christmas I'll be able to order a frame and fork and slowly start my build.

No prob. The overall quality is great; the welds look very good, the hydro-formed tubing is cool, and it rides awesome. I'd definitely recommend this frame to anyone.

calv

It's up to her, I was eyeing the 80mm Deda one since the FSA one only has 90mm as the shortest on RG.

Let me check the my LBS so you don't have to deal with my jackassery anymore lol.

Jaytron

Scrod,

Just a random question, is it just you and Angie that run the shop?

A complaint that some of my friends have expressed (not forum members) is the few days delay before an order goes out, unlike some online retailers. I don't really have a problem with it myself, but just sharing peer feedback with you. I just tell them to be patient because I figured you were a one man operation.

Scrodzilla
12-06-11, 01:06 PM
It's usually just Angie and myself but we do have help from time to time. Considering the amount of orders we process every single day, I feel we do a really good job getting everything processed and out the door in a timely manner.

IMO, people expect too much. I've ordered plenty of things online in my life and have never once "complained" that it took two days to process my order. We're not Zappo's and we don't work 24 hours a day.

Right, that's basically what I've been telling them. I don't mind the wait really, supporting small business is great.

hamfoh
12-06-11, 03:27 PM
plus whatever people may think scrod is lacking in 'process' time for a small business he more than makes up for everywhere else. 90% of the time the stuff goes out the next business day or two, it's really rare that it takes longer than that

few questions

any plans to offer velocity build kits?
any idea on when NM A23s are coming back?
same question, but for silver novatecs

Scrodzilla
12-06-11, 04:56 PM
Silver Novatecs have been an elusive beast but we're working on it.

I'll have to check with Velocity to see when the NMSW A23s will be back. We've gotten a ton of requests for them.

Official Velocity build kits could happen but adding all the available options to the site will be pretty overwhelming/time consuming. We've been doing them on a "special order" basis.
