Hey Scrod, I sent you a private message a while back saying sorry about the Kinlin thread, don't know if you saw it. I was unprepared that time around. This time though, I have a supplier and would like to do a group buy for non-machined kinlin rims. Is that ok? I'll be doing all of the work. If you want more information, let me know, or if you want to spearhead this group buy, then you can have the controls. The seller is Roland from Zen Cyclery and he has a price of:

XR200 and 270- First 5 sets- $48/per
First 10 sets- $45/per

and drillings don't matter. Can mix and match as much as you want. Let me know!

That's not too bad of a price.

I've currently got way too much on my plate to keep a group buy organized. I say go for it!

Scrod stop getting all this sweet stuff in your shop, it's going to eventually be the end of me.

Also, when do you get more Black Soma cogs in?

Scrodzilla
02-14-12, 10:29 PM
Ordered them yesterday. They'll be here in a few days. :D

Scrod, do you know if Novatec makes low flange rear hubs in 24h drillings? There's a set on ebay that's 32/32 but I was thinking about building 20/24 with Kinlin XR-200's.

Is there a way to get an e-mail notification when something is in stock? I want an 18t Black soma cog, but I want to order it asap so it gets where when the wheels do :P

Edit:
Oh my god, scrod carries brake levers, what's next, actual brakes?!

Sneak peeks of some stuff to come:

These hubs are so nice, I'm afraid to touch them. BTW - that's the sealed bearing version. :D

The new Big Block kinda rules.

Scrod,

Do you have some sort of estimate as to when you'll have a new batch of 'V1.5' straps & Odyssey Twisted pedals? Looking to buy a bunch of stuff and these are the only thing I'm waiting to come back into stock. If you don't know that's fine; either way thanks in advance.

Scrod, are you guys going to get any other stems that have either a 25.4 or 26.0 clamp besides the Thompson one? I really want the Rodeo Pursuit bullhorns and a new stem but I wasn't looking to spend that much on the stem itself. I like the looks of the Deda stem but the only one is 31.8

Jaytron
02-17-12, 01:43 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Scrod can now order whatever you're looking for since he's a real brick and mortar shop now (if you have anything specific in mind).

A few more pairs of V1.5s may make it up on the site within the next few days but our new V2 straps are currently in the works and should be available in a couple of weeks.

We do plan on stocking a bigger variety of stems but Jaytron's right - in the meantime we can special order just about anything you want.

Plan on carrying any of the other All-city frames (Nature boy specif) or will that be an item avail to special order?

Scrodzilla
02-17-12, 02:11 PM
I don't know if we'll actually stock them - mostly due to limited space at the shop - but I can definitely get them pretty quickly.

We're trying to figure out a way to make a 'special order' section on the site for stuff like that.

The new Big Block kinda rules.

I like the Big Block but I don't like all white. Unfortunately, it appears that's the only available color now except for a few leftover black/white ones. Too bad they have never seen fit to offer alternatives.

Scrodzilla
02-19-12, 04:38 PM
The complete bike version comes in metallic silver, which looks really nice. I dig the jeweled white frame but wish they came in a few more colors too.

I don't like the new Big Block with the deep track drops and silver rims. The old model with the two-tone deep red and white frame, black rims and risers looked a lot better IMO.

Sorry if its been asked but if I order the wheel parts I wanted could you build them for me? if so how much does it cost

Scrodzilla
02-21-12, 07:43 PM
Typically wheel build labor for you BFSSFGers is around 35-45 bucks per wheel. Considering the shop hourly labor rate of $60/hour, we feel that's that's a decent deal.

I keep checking back on the Retrogression website every now and then even though I have no money for bike stuff right now. You're getting crazy amounts of inventory variety these days! Keep up the good work, man! Hopefully once I get more cash headed my direction I can hit up your store. As a business student that hopes to start one of his own some day I always like seeing small business really take off. You guys are killing it out there!

Can you make a shirt with this "I ride fixe gear. No brakes. can't stop (you know the rest)?

Or is that copyrighted? I'm not well versed in copyright law.

Scrodzilla

Actually, we were thinking of making a shirt featuring Whitney Houston on a fixed gear that says "Can't stop, don't want to".

Seriously. I like doing stuff that has to do with what we're talking about here on the forum though because after all, this is where the whole thing started with the Sheldon shirt nearly three years ago. Maybe I'll come up with a pre-order deal for some sort of BFSSFG-specific stuff again soon.

Are you able to order from overseas suppliers, such as Brick Lane Bikes?

Scrodzilla
02-23-12, 11:35 AM
Brick Lane is a bike shop that (for the most part) sells their own line of products. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure their stuff is only available through them directly.

Damn, tried to order the king hubs from one of their shops in Rotterdam. They failed to send me a tracking number and it's been 4 weeks, so I had to ask for a refund; got the refund today.

How do you like the Novatecs laced to the A23s? I may just order those. The main reason I wanted those BLB King Hubs was due to the M8 end bolts. Don't think that calls for the extra 150$.

Scrodzilla
02-24-12, 02:38 PM
I love my wheelset and those Novatec hubs are no frills but awesome. If you want burly axle bolts you could always go with the All-city new Sheriffs.

Noticed you posted the Godzilla and Bare Knuckle. Just curious on the headset specifications on them; there's nothing in the descriptions regarding it, but some pictures have headsets installed and some don't.

C'mon, man! It says right in the descriptions!

The Godzilla is 1" threadless (unless you use a threaded fork) and the BK is 1/18" threadless.

Which one do you like better, Scrod?

They're both gorgeous and it's hard to favor one over the other based on overall quality.

For myself, I think I'd lean toward the Bare Knuckle because it's a little more burly and I'm not a small dude. I was hell-bent on building up a Godzilla but I think the BK suits me better.

Oh - and the forks on EAI frames are different than found on the Leader 722 and other bikes. They're extremely similar at first glance but the blades are thinner and they have much smaller, nicer dropouts (with no lawyer tabs). They're also lighter.

 i saw the headtube sizes, I meant that some pictures have headset cups installed and some dont, which might imply that a headset may be included or not. In one of the BK pictures the frame and fork are put together and almost look like it'd take an integrated headset(which I'm assuming is not the case). Just curious is all.

Those are just plastic cups holding the steerer in the head tube for display purposes.
