I can take some pics in the morning. I don't have a camera at the shop right now and my phone battery is dead.

Oh...and I'm just going to leave this (http://www.retro-gression.com/product/2012-cinelli-vigorelli-frameset) here.

Coolsies

But wait, there's moar on the frames & forks page!

Hmm is the histogram's MSRP always that high on the books?

Scrodzilla

Man, I've been eyeing a Vigorelli just a tiny bit. Now you have them in stock. Maybe the Bike Gawdz are trying to tell me something.

My next bike is most likely going to be an All City Big Block. Will you have the 2013's (Sir Elton Lavender) in stock or do you have to wait until old stock sells off?

We'll have them as soon as we can get 'em!

Thanks! I'm not sure which thread to ask this in, but it has to do with your shop so...:

Can you possibly supply any pictures of a 49cm big block..? Maybe you've built some for a few customers or something. It's my understanding that it's absolutely absurd that a 5'9" guy could ride a 49cm frame, but comparing my 53cm Kagero which could be a bIt smaller, and the big block having a 53cm TT... Doesn't sound to crazy, right?

Scrodzilla
10-03-12, 07:29 PM
I haven't built up anything smaller than a 55.

It seems crazy that you'd fit on a 49 but if the top tube fits...

calv
10-03-12, 08:49 PM
That's what I'm trying to tell myself. 53cm TT. 53cm TT. 53cm TT.

Looking at the geo, 49cm Big Block is kind of like a 50cm Kilo TT.

Nagrom_
10-03-12, 08:59 PM
There's your issue. The 53cm Kagero has a seat tube of 53, and a top tube of 54.5. You're top tube is off a full cm on a 49cm big block, and only off a half cm on the 52cm.

I'd go with the 52 based on your Kagero sizing, but I think you should post your fit calc results.

My Kagero feels a bit big. fitcalc says I need a ~52-53cm seat tube and a 53-54cm with a 90-100mm stem.

edit: It might just be that I need to work on stretching out more, but I can't possibly see myself going longer than what I have with the Kagero in terms of TT length.

Hey scrod can you do a side by side comparison of the timbuk2 tool shed sizes open and closed?

Hey Scrod, I sent an order on Wednesday of this week but haven't heard back if you received the order or if you sent it already. Let me know as soon as you can, thanks!

Scrodzilla

Dude, come on. We get a **** ton of orders every day and I don't own a crystal ball so I have no idea which order you're even talking about.

Read the FAQ page (http://www.retro-gression.com/faq).

OMG I just got back from my first ride with Odyssey pedals instead of the Animal PC pedals I had (they were free). I understand why you spec those for your Pedal/strap combo's. I liked the way my pedals felt before but now I can't believe I went so long before changing pedals. thanks Scrod they are great

Looking to build up a set of wheels with a flip flop hub. weight is a factor- but I'm tired of deep rims, so that alone should sate the weenie. Don't need butted spokes, don't need crazy light hubs. Ideally, I'd like the task of building something like the wabi wheels, but in black, for the sport of it now that snow's about to fly. I'd like to spend around $250 for rims, hubs, spokes, nipples, a cog and a lockring. 3x on both ends, 28/28 or 28/32- whatever, doesn't really matter, I ride light, but I am 200#.

Black would be ideal for the rim, with brake ready (machined?) sidewalls. For the spokes and hub either black or polished. They'll be going on a black steamroller frame with drop bars and aero levers.

Is this at all feasible at this price point? Any ideas of what a good route to take would be?

TL;DR- Scrod, are you up for making me a DIY black wheel package with a price ceiling of $250, ideally $200?

A pair of 32h Kinlin XR200 rims, Novatec track hubs, Wheelsmith DB14 spokes and Wheelsmith brass nips add up to $218.40 before shipping.

I'm looking for a 29.8mm Thomson seat post collar in black. How quickly can you ship one of these to Boston?

Scrodzilla

All of my distributors are out of stock so probably not very quickly.

Search function is literally failing me...

Do you, by chance, have a comparison photo with MKS GR-9 running the M and L size wellgo/mks swan double clips?

Scrodzilla
10-10-12, 01:12 PM
I don't. The size medium swan clips are pretty damn small though. What size shoe do you wear?

CJWIZVRDGVNG
10-10-12, 01:19 PM
I wear size 10 and primarily ride in vans. I just know the gr-9 has a longer platform compared to sylvans and the like.

ddeadserious
10-10-12, 01:23 PM
If the MKS M clips are anything like the size of the All City M clips, they will be entirely too small for your size 10 Vans with the GR-9's.

Scrodzilla
10-10-12, 01:24 PM
Actually, I had it backward. I just looked and the size medium swan clips are comparable in depth to size large MKS clips.

CJWIZVRDGVNG
10-10-12, 04:01 PM
so in the area of 70mm platform eh?

Scrodzilla
10-10-12, 05:53 PM
It's about 60mm.

I use MKS mediums on GR-9's and they're more than enough for my size 10's. They still barely touch my front tire at the right angle. I'd go with either small or medium MKS, large would be too much for me.

When will you get some of the V2 Footstrap and pedal?

Also, would the pedal fit fine on a size 8-8 1/2 shoes?

Thanks!

Scrodzilla
10-13-12, 02:36 PM
Another batch of straps should be done in a few weeks.

Assuming you're talking about the Odyssey Twisted pedals that come in the combo, you'll be fine.

I'm a size 9 and and usually ride in Vans slip-ons and that combo works perfectly for me

10-14-12, 04:15 PM
how much would you estimate the labor charge for a set of wheels, 32h a23>novatecs via 2x lasers?

Scrodzilla
10-14-12, 04:27 PM
About $40-45 per wheel.

I did just build two sets of all black NMSW A23s/Novatecs laced 3X using Wheelsmith DB14s and finished off with red VeloPlugs that will be hitting the site this week if you're interested.
