We've undergone quite a few changes since Sept 2009 and have decided to step it up a bit in '11 by offering a good amount of quality parts in addition to our own goods. (The name change was something that had to happen. Sigh...it's complicated.)

Our new site - while still being what's seeming to be a never ending work in progress - went live this afternoon.

Please check out the new storefront by clicking the image above (or my sig) and let me know what you think!

:D

wait - why the change in name? legal issues?

prices are fair as usual, but who is making your cogs/lockrings/straps and clips? i have a feeling this may turn into a full operation like benscycle =x.

store front possibility once you move to the west coast?

Possibly Singleworks.

I make them in our spare bedroom.

The clips are basically unbranded versions of All-City Craytons, Eighth Inch doubles, etc. Same with the straps. It's all made in the same place and people put they're respective logos on it and charge outlandish prices (which pisses me off).

The cogs and lockrings are really good quality on par with others at the same pricepoint (All-City, Eighth Inch, Singleworks). I actually took the EAI Superstar off my Leader and have been running one of our 19t cogs. It's quiet and has been holding up nicely. I dig the light bronze finish too. Impressed with the lockring as well. We definitely wouldn't be selling the stuff if I couldn't back it!

We've got a lot more tricks up our sleeves for the near future so keep an eye on us.

A storefront on the west coast sounds lovely. :D

looks great. seems to be some glitches though, as i can see the sugino 75 arms on the main page, but they don't show up on the parts page. also... are you going to continue to expand your product line or is this it for now? i ask only because i'm currently leaning towards getting a nito noodle handlebar, and figured if you can get the 021's you could also get them. also, got any discounts for fellow BF members/leader enthusiasts?

Scrodzilla
01-31-11, 07:04 PM
Right on. Thanks. Angie just fixed that glitch with the 75s and it shows up now. If anyone else notices anything wonky, please let me know!

I can get Noodles and will most likely be stocking them soon for right around the same price as the RB-021s. Coupon codes will happen again at some point but I can't disclose when.

Ever considered a pedal/strap combo?

Scrodzilla
01-31-11, 09:19 PM
That's a good idea. What were you thinking?

Ever considered a pedal/strap combo?
like this? http://www.retro-gression.com/product/bikeage-v1-5-straps-odyssey-twisted-pedals

or did you mean having the straps actually be part of the pedal? which i think is a bad idea, because the strap will wear out before the pedal does, and you'd want to replace them independently

Capocaccia

Originally I was saying a MKS Sylvan or GR9 deal with the V 1.5 straps for 45$/50$ respectively. Now im thinking a better deal would be like free shipping on all pedal strap combos or 5$ off when ordering pedals and straps of any combo.

Like the first example. But thats just one pedal and theres alot of combos out there to be made with whats available on that site. Just noticing a business opportunity but I know first had that I suck with money.

With all the options for different combinations available, I feel it would be hard for me to keep track of - both on the site and in actually handling them - at this stage of the game (we're seriously up to our necks in bike parts right now and have very limited space) but opening up different package deals from time to time is definitely something that could happen somewhere down the line.

This may be a little way off but we're tossing around the idea of eventually offering a limited amount of custom wheel builds too. My lady builds a damn good wheel.

depending on how far off that is i may be interested.

I'm love the new logo on your straps Dave. You ever consider a complete horizontal logo like the one on your front page?

Scrodzilla
02-01-11, 02:13 PM
Thanks calv! We thought about it but decided against it. I don't really like when logos are overkill and the whole strap would have ended up being one big logo. I think it's much better small and somewhat subtle (that's what she said).

The horizontal logo will most likely show up on a shirt and/or stickers someday.

on your websites FAQ you should change this:

"Do you offer wholesale rates?

Absolutely. If you are a shop/retailer interested in setting up an account to sell Bikeage stuff, please contact us for more info."

Scrodzilla
02-02-11, 06:49 AM
It will eventually. All the Bikeage shirts are still available and really, the only stuff we offer to other retailers is our soft goods. As we add more Retrogression-branded things, we'll make the change.

My Nitto fetish is shining through at the moment but a lot more of our own stuff will be hitting the store very soon. :D

your bike links still include the Madison haha...

I'm in support of the west coast storefront, but only if its in PDX, and then I'll be 100% committed!

We're hooked up with a good distributor and everything on the site is in stock/ready to ship. As far as "requests" go, if there's anything anyone thinks we should be carrying please let me know.

Those hoodies are going to be so badass. I've got the prototype and it's awesome.

happypills - thanks. I think so too.

Totally stoked about this new(ish) venture for you guys. I can't wait to see what 2011 brings for Retrogression/Scrod and his Lady.

I also think the new logo is badass. I liked the old one too, but this one pops better.

Thoroughly pleased with my the pedals, Scrod. I may exchange actual pedals for some metal ones but they straps are ridiculously bombproof. I have huge feet and the pedals provide me with a large amount of surface area for me to step on.

And thanks for the speedy shipment. I wasn't expecting to get them so quickly.

Scrodzilla
02-11-11, 07:26 AM
Right on, man...glad you dig them and they arrived quickly!

We've gotten pretty good at getting stuff out the day after an order comes in or sometimes even the same day if it comes in early enough.

I just have to say thanks for offering stuff at a good price. I live in LA and the only shop I've found that has rb 21's was trying to charge me 80 bucks for one! I hate how shops are taking advantage of the rise in popularity of fixed gear bikes.

Scrodzilla
02-15-11, 06:35 PM
You're welcome! :D

I hate that crap too and we're stoked to be able to offer the goods at realistic prices. Thanks to you guys for being supportive.
