Used Bike Suggestions

Hello All:
I just completed my first Triathlon (Olympic Distance on a hilly course) last weekend on a too small Trek Hybrid. I'm looking for a used road bike under $300.00. I was thinking an older aluminum or steel bike with Shimano 105 components. Any suggestions?

May be hard to find a $300 used bike with 105 that's still in decent shape. Read the under $700 thread in the road forum. Some of those bikes are no doubt available used in your price range.

Dare I say, Ebay?
I've always had good luck, or post wanted things on duathlno.com and triathlete.com. People are fairly helpful about wanted products, especially if they're trying to sell.

I've had good luck on eBay for the most part but it seems the prices for "vintage" stuff is unreasonable. I hate to buy such a cheap bike and pay $40-$50 for shipping. I keep using the search by distance on Ebay to find bikes within driving distance. Not much in my size and price range over the last few months.

I've tried thrift stores and pawn shops (most local one won't take "10-Speeds"). Who knew there was a Huffy "Triathlon" road bike at 50 lbs? There is a LBS that sells trade-ins but they have very little now at the end of the season. "Wait until spring" they say. .
