Was curious to know if anybody knows of a good trunkmount bikerack for a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix. The guy at my LBS consulted the books and couldn't find any truckmounts for my model of car. It has a small spoiler and a rounded polyuerethane bumper which is probably going to make it hard to find one anywhere. Looks like the roofmount is the only way to go and I doubt if I'll be doing that. Most roofies are pretty big $ money aren't they? Not to mention, they look like they have more of a likelyhood of messing up your car. Anybody in their experience heard of any workable trunkmounts? All info is most appreciated. Thx.

Sorry but i've also got a bike rack question and didn't want to start another post. Do they make racks for pickups? Like things to keep the bikes standing up?

I think roof mounts or a trailer-hitch mount would be a better idea. I used a trunk mount on my MX6, and it managed to scrape some paint off the spoiler and put some DEEP sratches into my rear bumper

Where as a roof mount, the mounts clamps into the roof, and the bike will not move at all, nor will it scratch any paint.

Fandango,

I would consider shelling out the money for a roof mount. Or put hitch on your car and do a hitch mount, but that may be more expensive in the end.

CChaves,

There are many different types of racks for a truck. Just search Google.

Here's one at Campmor

I will also second the suggestion for a roofrack on a car like that. Although I use a hitchrack now with my Jeep, I also went through the annoyance with using trunkracks on other cars. If you're really deadset on trunkracks however, you might want to look at the Saris Bones racks which clear many spoilers.

I picked up a Saris Bones 3 off ebay and its worked great for me.
The only thing that Id say to do if you get it is to put something around your tubes as the rack can rub the paint a bit, if this doesnt matter then its nearly flawless IMO.

Another vote for the Bones rack.
