Nice color, and pretty from a distance, but Zeus bikes always had a rep for being "in the French tradition": sound but not particularly pretty close-up. Can't follow the link to see any detail shots from work, so...

Interesting. One of the only companies to make frames and components. That sure is a "French" looking bleu~

Another beauty from Stefan Schaefter in Switzerland. He really knows beauty and quality when he sees it. To see more, check out this link to an interview with him:

And here's his website with more eye-candy:

BTW, Stefan currently owns more of my drillium than anyone else in the world; he bought his first piece from me off Ebay way back in 2007, so of course he knows quality ;)

Yep, it's a gorgeous resto job. And LOVE those 2000 brakes, especially the QR setup in the levers. I bought a pair BITD, but never used 'em. Wish I still had 'em. (And just to be cranky, the closeups just confirm what I originally said - the frame is very crudely made: lots of gaps in the brazing and minimal/no cleanup work on the lugs. Not to say that it's not perfectly serviceable, but...)

ps - that has got to be THE BEST shade of blue!

Where do you find rubber brake lever hoods for that thing?

Not a restoration. According to the listing all original except for basically front wheel and consumables. That is what is special. If it was even close to fitting I would buy it or at least bid very aggressively on it. A very beautiful and pretty rare (at least in the US) bike.

I used to have the greatest of respect for all of Stefan's items and descriptions. They were all of the highest quality and accuracy. Over the last three years approximately, I have seen a marked change, with many items no longer having the most accurate descriptions. I am not sure whether this should be ascribed to deceit or simply lack of knowledge. I would tend to think it is more likely that it is the latter and due to the lack of knowledge he is basing his descriptions on information received from others. It is also clear that one collector in particular, who is well-known for his over-the-top fantasy descriptions has been able to bend Stefan's ear and may be the reason for the inaccuracies that have crept into the descriptions.

His goods remain top notch and always show almost perfect presentation. As of today, I would however not necessarily take all of his descriptions as being gospel. By all means do continue to ogle and buy his highly worthy items, but do study up on the items before you bid and make sure you know what you are buying.
