I have the chance to get a slightly used pair of Ritchey Tom Comp tires 26x1.4". I believe they cost $20-$25 new. The guy is looking for $40 for the tires and I believe tubes. Is this a fair price?

Not really. You don't know how worn or how many thorns- bits of glass etc are sitting in the tyre waiting to give a problem. I keep my used/unwanted tyres and give them away or keep them for emergencys

i didn't see it that away, but you have a point.
You can get 'em new for that.

The way I see it, if they're worth $20 apiece new, then once the flashing is gone they're worth no more than $20/pair. maybe less if there's visible wear.

The way I look at it is.......A used tire is like a used condom 'cause one tiny hole can be a whole world of hurt! :twitchy::eek::twitchy:

i saw them online for $25 new. since there is none this size readily available near me, i got them. tires and tubes for $30. reading earlier posts i'm sure i will be told i paid to much, but to me i saved on shipping and tax.
How about some used brake pads? Just kidding.
Do yourself a favor and buy new,

Like I said no one local had tires and I'm not gonna shell out a lot of money on shipping. I came out cheaper in the long run, the I priced the tires at $24.95 + shipping plus $4 for tubes. That's over $60.
