The Bike MS: Cox Atlanta Ride 2011 (http://www.nationalmssociety.org/chapters/gaa/fundraising-events/bike-ms/cox-atlanta-ride-2011/index.aspx) is September 17th & 18th...I just signed up. Anyone else? There's also a ride in May but I know I'm going out of town that month and can't remember when.
I have as yet to do a MS ride.
The May ride is May 21-22 Atlanta to Athens and back. I'm really interested in that ride. The ADA ride is the weekend before so I am really torn now. I am already signed up for the ADA ride but haven't started the fund raising. I cant hope to get decent donations for both rides so I need to decide one or the other. Decisions decisions.
I'm on a budget, what sort of housing costs are involved for the Callaway gardens ride?

The fundraising threshold is $250. But registration is $5 today and increases by a dollar each day in Feb. Then it goes up to...$50 maybe? Yep, $50, just checked. I have a birthday between now and the ride so I plan to try and get donations instead of stuff I don't need. :-) Oh, and also this is my first MS ride.
I'd like to support MS research. My 40 year old daughter was diagnosed with MS about two years ago. Is there an easy way to collect money for these rides. I'm retired so can't pester co-workers for donations and many of my neighbors are retired and are living on "fixed incomes". I don't want to "donate" the entire $250 so I can ride.

After you register you get your own fundraising page where people can donate online. It makes it easy to slide it into forum and email signatures. I'll probably have some bake sales. Have anything you don't need anymore you could see on craigslist? Or a lot of stuff, yard sale?
The first $100 comes pretty easy. I had a lot of donations from friends and family for the ADA ride I have done. I also am active on a couple forums and put the link in my signatures and had a few good donations including one guy that committed $2 a mile (I did the Metric). I ended up raising $650. I captained the AT&T ADA team in 09 and as a team we raised $8,000+ There was $2000 donation after the event for the Pioneer group (retired group) so I dont recall the exact amount.. Its easer then you think, just have to ask. I printed a bunch of half pager flyers with the links on it to hand out.
