Oops - I scratched it like the booklet says not to. I was cutting the bread, didn't realize the paddle was in the bottom of the bread, and I put a nice little knife slit on the paddle! The booklet thing I got with it says not to scratch it... anyone know why? It's only a non-stick surface right? Now that part won't be non stick right? I guess if a ball of dough is rolling around in it, it might get caught on the part that's scratched.... crap.

It won't be that bad.

Yep I'm assuming it's because it's non-stick. Just like with non-stick pans and pots. If you scratch it up that part won't work as well, but I'm sure it won't be that bad.

I have had bread makers for decades, and a little scratch on the paddle or mixing bowl is of no import. Your bread will turn out pretty much the same.

From my experience when the paddle gets stuck it just means that it will stick a little when you pull it out. If you make heavy use of your breadmaker like we used to the paddle's non-stick generally becomes virtually worthless. Doesn't affect the ability to make the bread. Just means you have a bit more to snack on when you pull the paddle out of your completed bread. :-p

Discard the machine at once! Any bread from it will be highly toxic. Send it to me for proper disposal.

Do you like teflon in your bread?

I don't think I've ever seen a breadmaker with actual teflon that rubs off in noticeable bits/chunks. Actually, I've not seen a teflon pan either that has that in almost a decade.

Can it be both?
