After nearly a year of no mountain biking, but plenty of road and cross racing, I had to do it again. Not only ride.. but race. So now I'm building up a mountain bike. Fuji Mt. Fuji pro carbon hardtail.. thinking 22-23 pounds.

Sweet Start! I like the green slash.

Me too. It has a green logo on the stay, the slash on the stay, one on the seat tube, and a pin stripe on the top tube.

I think it needs these.

Nice looking frame; welcome back to the fold.

That would work too. I don't really like the idea of one set hand position for grips.

How much was the frame ? I got the itch for a new build myself , im thinking on a KHS alite 3000 though, and from the spec they weigh a tick over 3lbs..

I'm actually using DT swiss hubs and rims that I already had, and the headset is integrated. I'm not sure on the crank yet. Light, whatever I pick.

I'll be sure to post progress pics. It will be a while unfortunately.. I'm not cheaping out on the build and can't afford too much now. It will be sweet though.

I chose a hardtail because I don't think I need a FS bike for XC races, I'm also a weight weenie and can't nearly afford a weight weenie FS frame. :)

I built up the wheels today - Dt swiss x430 rims, DT swiss double butted spokes (silver front, black rear) and DT onyx hubs.

Sounds like sweet rims, nice use of contrast front and back spokes. What tires?

mzeffex

Das foto - not sure on tires yet. Thinking S-works fast trak maybe. 2.0 or 1.95 width and light are my requirements.

Has anyone tried the Schwalbe Racin Rons. Look to be light and durable if a tad pricey.

mmm Mt. Fuji. We had one at the shop that was a size too big for me. Why we had a 21" frame in is beyond me. If it was a 19" I wouldv'e been all over it! Awesome bike. You have a great base. Ride the bajesus out of it!

are you going to run a suspension fork? I vote for the niner carbon rigid fork.

mzeffex
02-15-11, 05:24 AM
I thought about that.. but for racing (and well, just riding anyway) I'd prefer some suspension. Thinking X-fusion Velvet RL. 3.2 pounds and not toooooo pricey.

It will be a little while.. saving up for the fork. CC had an f120 on closeout today for $250, can you believe it? Too bad it wasn't 100mm. Sold now.
