Classic & Vintage - When did the cycling organizations ban curved tubes?
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This question was raised in another thread and deserves attention.
When did the cycling organizations ban curved tubes, different sized wheels, etc?
Why? Any official expanation?
How do those rules apply to modern CF bikes, which have curved or sculpted tubes?

I think it was an old UCI ban (pro's only, maybe) that may no longer be in effect.
I know bikes with no seat tube are/were also banned, for pretty much no good reason.
For TT's in competition, though, I think they're allowed.
Otherwise the P3C wouldn't be the fast crowd's fave...
I'd love to hear others chime in on it.
You're speaking about that KHS, aren't you?
