At first I would like to say hello, because it's my first post on this Forum :).
On March 2005 I am going to buy a new bike and I wonder which one to choose: Trek 1400 (http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2005/road/1400e.jsp) or Scott AFD Comp (http://www.langsettcycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m1b24s6p768&tbv=SCOTT_AFD_Comp_BIKES_Road_Racing).
What do you think, which one is better? I think, that Scott has better fork whilst Trek has better wheels. I have no idea which frame is better (if you know - it would be nice if you let me know). I supose, that Scott is a bit lighter (about 8,9kg), and Trek is about 9,0kg (but I can only suspect what is the real weight of Trek - it is not written in Polish catalogue. If in your catalogue there is written weight of Trek - please, let me know). Trek has double (or triple, there is possiblity of choice) crankset, and Scott has triple crankset. I prefer double one.

With regards
Pawel

PS. Sorry for my English - I'm from Poland and I just learn your language :)

EDIT:
Nobody knows which bike is better? I have no idea which should I choose, because it's my first road bike. What is more important in road riding: wheels or fork?

I don't know much about either of these bikes.

Fork or Wheels: I think that better wheels are more important than a better fork. Besides, you can replace your fork with something decent for a lot less money than the cost of a decent set of wheels.

Frame: The weight of the frame should not be a huge consideration for your first bike, especially if you are looking at the lower end of the manufacturers line. The fit of the frame should be the only thing you really care about. Which one rides better to you? Which is more comfortable? It is pretty tough to tell without spending some time riding the bikes.

Components: This should be a major consideration, in my opinion. If the frames both fit fine, I would get the bike with the better components. Better components can save a lot of weight, and they will work better and make the riding experience more fun for a lot longer.

Thank you for your answer. I will buy Trek 1400 :). I like it more than Scott :). And it has better wheels (as I supose)
