Curious if anyone saw this and liked it. MY husband loved it but I was kind of bored..
I hear that Sean Pean and Alec Baldwin are pretty pissed about their portral..
I haven't seen it, but it sounds like it's more typical male humor-oriented stuff. I'm not really interested in seeing it, but I'll tune in when it comes out on cable. You probably need to be a BIG South Park fan to watch it, and quite honestly, I haven't watched that show in years, since it became overblown and commercialized and the uniqueness of the show was lost.

I saw it, I liked it but would have liked it better if it had been toned down a bit. The violence was funny. The constant use of C!@# S!@#$kr was way too much. The Gay sex was just too much. The hetero sex was crude and didn't need to be so explicit. I think even though it's puppets the one scene is borderline porn. Certainly nothing for any kid under 18 to see. If they had stuck to the political fun making and a few swear words here and there it would be a very good funny movie, as it is it's a bit offensive. It's almost marketed to kids with the puppets with the "Thunder birds feel" R rating is underratiing this one for sure. It should be NC-17 without a doubt.
Koffee you might find it funny. If you can get by all the gay sex and crude language it certainly is not a Macho movie.
The best scene was Michael Moore as a suicide bomber lol

If you were offended in any way, it wasn't meant for you. It was made by the South Park guys, for the South Park fans. Offensive is what they do best. Political satire is just the vehicle. It originally WAS NC-17. They cut some of the more "intense" Puppet sex scenes to qualify for the "R".
Like South Park, it's not really marketed to kids. It's inattentive parents who think that because it's a "cartoon" or "puppets" it MUST be a kids movie.

Actually South Park is tame compared to what I saw. If the movie was NC-17 I'd have no problems with it.
I think it goes way beyond R I did find it funny as I first posted just not for an R rating. What was depicted with puppets sexually would be X for real actors in a movie with real people. They toned down the sex scenes? I saw oral, anal, multiple positions, and the references to gay sex and the gay bj towards the end was really beyond R.
That being said I laughed during the movie and wasn't really offended, but glad I didn't take my daughter (10yo) who really wanted to see it since it was advertised all over the TV during her "cartoon" shows.
In fact I really enjoyed the storyline of the Liberal lefty peace loving movie stars all being pawns of Kim Chong-il. Watching Micheal Moore explode was worth every penny. hehehe.
I imagine that when it comes to video there will be problems with the rating.

Anyone recall South Park curators being interviewed in Michael Moore's "Columbine.."
This movie is just political parity gone nuts..I am not sure what the writers were trying to say..Wonder if they know..I would like to see them interviewed ...To explain this movie.
It really attacked everybody. I think.. Maybe the writers were high when they produced this.?
We are both South Park fans. We enjoyed this movie, but I think there was really no message. Just exaggerated parity gone astray.
The writers are graduates of Columbine High School and offened by violence as I recall..Anyone knows their intent. please let us know.
I think you hit the nail on the head. Satire all of politicals both left and right. Both right and left sides are too extreme in their oppinions and views
IMHO I also think they are saying that America might be arrogant, narcisistic and self-righteous, we are helping protect a lot of different people..(Whether they want it or not {lol**
CZ, were you sleeping? The whole message of the movie was summed up in the ending 'Dix, Puzzies, Azzholes" soliquy. When you realize the irreverant, take no prisoners attitude of Parker and Stone get burried under multiple layers of ambigious entendre it's obvious that the intention was to make its viewers take a good look at themselves and Huh?
I saw the movie this past Saturday. I wasn't offended and there were a few funny parts. However, I was disappointed. I thought it would be funnier. Maybe it is one of those movies that gets funnier over time, like Friday.

Stacey...The obvious was overlooked...The movie gave to boot to all...Including us? Some thought 'Team America' to be the closest anyone came to 'heros' , since they saved the planet, yet destroyed the Eifel Tower, Spinx, and anything else in sight..
So is it true Sean Penn was miffed and stood in the way of saving the planet?

I saw it last night, funny stuff, I laughed so hard I was crying durring the puking scene. I agree with Dark Arrow, it went a bit beyond a simple R rating on some scenes...
Joe, you have the same sense of humor as my husband... He still laughs when he thinks of some of the scenes. Thank goodness their wasn't any farts in the move:)

Can someone explain to me what the difference is between an R-rating and NC-17?
R is restriced = Under 17 requires accompany of parent or adult guardian
NC-17 = No one under 17 admitted..

I think it goes way beyond R
The MPAA doesn't agree with you, which is why it's an R. If you don't like how they do their job, work to change it. Trey and Matt made the film they wanted to make, which was deemed an NC-17 rated movie by the MPAA. Their contract stipulated that it be R, so they had to cut it until the MPAA gave it an R. The MPAA gave the final rating, not the studio or directors or producers.

Saw it this evening. It was funny and had it's moments, but it was a renter if I ever saw one.
