Hybrid Bicycles - I can't figure out what material the rotor itself is made out of

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have SM-RT53 Disc Rotors on my Cannondale Quick CX Ultra. It calls for resin pads only. But I can't figure out what material the rotor itself is made out of. Anyone have any ideas?
Mikey
P.S. Here's a PDF with the part numbers... http://techdocs.shimano.com/media/techdocs/content/cycle/EV/bikecomponents/BR/EV-BR-M486-F-2883A_v1_m56577569830667244.pdf

Very Nice Bike ! I think most rotors are made of different grades of steel, but unless some one else
knows for sure, you might have to e-mail Cannondale.. Richard

Almost certainly (stamped) stainless steel; there are some high-tech (and uber expensive) variations out there, but real-world bicycle disc rotors are typically that material.

Well, the reason I ask, is because the color is lighter, almost like an aluminum. And stamped on the rotor are the words, "use resin pads only".

I was only taking an educated guess, I can see you sitting there typing with one hand and laughing to
yourself ! A magnet will stick to ( some cheap grades of stainless steel ), but my kids said DAD, what's so funny ?
Even if you did not know, just keep letting me think you did. Richard : )

OK, I'll let you go on thinking I know what I'm talking about. :) I can type with both hands now, tie my shoes etc. but I'm not supposed to lift anything more than 1 pound yet. Doc told me to trim the ends of the fishing line he stitched me with, but I decided to leave it for now.

Wow, you really busted that arm up ! Wished I lived closer to you, I would try and make some deliveries for you, I'm sure you could use the help,
and I would cherish the experience also. But I can only wish you the best ! Richard
